This was the first episode of angina I have ever had, and apart from the genes that I inherited from my parents, I have no risk factors for coronary artery disease. An angiogram performed by Dr Pramod Mundra in his private hospital in Nagpur showed 80% occlusion of my left anterior descending artery. The cardiologist, true to the adage, " never ask a barber if you need a hair cut " , chose for the later option. Within minutes, a baloon and a 18 mm drug eluting stent opened my artery and the blood began to flow again. I am writing this from the ICU bed and hope to go back to Sevagram tomorrow evening. Guest guest
Esteemed Dr Kalantri Nice to know that U are on the autobahn to recovery!! God is great!!  U r however the 3rd person I personally have met in blood & flesh who does not have any risk factors for cardiac ischemia and has still suffered the ischemia. (The other two being Dr OPGupta and Dr JK Tiwari-'74 batch).  To my un-initiated mind it means that genes are THE SINGLE most imp. factor for most diseases; If one has bad ones then all risk factors start affecting one adversely; If one has favourable ones then probably nothing happens, or, if at all, very minor problem might occur.  More when we meet.(Hopefully in near future). Take care!!(of what???I dont know!! :-D)  Diwakar'76 ________________________________ To: mgims Sent: Wednesday, 1 August 2012 10:16 AM Subject: Re: The heart has its reasons which the reason does not know  nice to hear your well being status, kalantari sir! wishing you the best. > > > >> > >> > >> Dear all, > >> > >> Yesterday evening I underwent an emergency angioplasty for an acute > >> angina > >> that had hit me yesterday noon. Guest guest
Sir, Â Wish Balvinder Rana Subject: The heart has its reasons which the reason does not know To: " MGIMS e-group " <mgims > Date: Tuesday, 31 July, 2012, 8:37 AM Â Dear all, Yesterday evening I underwent an emergency angioplasty for an acute angina that had hit me yesterday noon. Although my ECG showed minor changes of ischaemia , my BP had shot up. The blood flow through the artery was good, though. The cardiologist and the friends, accompanying me in the cath lab toyed between the two options ; medical therapy or angioplasty. I am grateful to everyone who stood by me during my hospitalisation . As of now I am enjoyed being badly pampered !
