Smudged Smudge

The word 'smudge' may mean something unclear or blurred to you. However, for

my friend, Balvinder Singh, it means 'clear'; as in " Ab meri smudge mein

aaya! "

On our morning walk, I remarked that the great wrestler, 'Dara Singh' had

died. Balvinder just snorted through his beard. I added that many

sportspersons and film personalities had either attended or said a few kind

words about him, including Amitabh Bachchan. This touched a raw nerve in

him.

" No real Sardar will say anything nice about Dara Singh. Amitabh is only

half a Sardar because his mother is a Sardarni. "

Okay, so no wonder he is not acting in 'Son of Sardar'. He's probably

waiting for 'Son of Sardarni'. But I was perplexed; why wouldn't any Sardar

say anything nice about Dara Singh? Balvinder clarified, " Oye' that is

because he cut off his hair and shaved. No real Sardar will do that. See

what happened to Maneka Gandhi, who is a Sardarni, when she married a

non-Sardar; She was kicked out of her house! "

Ab meri smudge mein aya, that one is not nice due to his deeds but because

he follows tradition or not. I hastily turned to another topic. " They have

created the God particle. " I remarked.

" Oye, that was predicted long ago in our holy book. It says that all

particles are one and that principle is called Ek Omkar. "

" Oh! You mean the one which looks like a 13 written in Devanagri? "

" Yes! The Christians have predicted two particles. "

Yeh meri smudge mein nahi aaya. " Two? "

" Yes. Adam and Eve particles. "

I hastily switched topics and mentioned how atrocious the attack on the

Guwahati teenager was. Balwinder raised his bushy eyebrows angrily and said,

" She probably deserved it. Wearing small clothes and partying late at

night! "

Now I fully agreed with Balwinder here. It was entirely the girl's fault.

Why was the girl born in such an unfair place like India? But then we cannot

remedy this situation as female foeticide is not allowed. Gradually my

smudge was getting more and more smudged, almost as smudged as Pinki

Pramanik's gender. Ab aayi baat smudge mein?
