Guest guest
yes, for us miralax was very toxic because my boys have leaky gut and it was going into the blood stream. when went gluten and dairy free we had relief from constipation. miralax is very hard on the gut and can cause leaky gut too. it caused a list mile long of symptoms for my boys. (tics, ocd, yeast overgrowth, anxiety, fear ........and the list continues). it would be in your best interest to take ur son off ASAP even if they r looking at u like crazy! it will be the best thing u did for ur son...i know i did! i am have spent over 40,000 to get my 2 boys back to better health and still paying and trying to heal their leaky gut! i am abt do to a humaworm parasite cleanse too after the kids get out of school. our stool testing showed we have non human parasites.here is something every should watch. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/mms-autism-webinar maria To: miralax From: christiereno@...Date: Mon, 21 May 2012 19:35:45 +0000Subject: Looking for answers My son is 19 months old and has been on miralax since late February due to chronic constipation secondary to other medical issues. He has had extreme lethargy since this time and I am trying to determine if there is any correlation between the two. He had a surgery in late April and was off the miralax for 2days. He had two great days after and then back to his lethargic state. We are actually in the hospital right now and I have asked them to discontinue for two days to see if it gets better or even if it is just to rule out the possibility. They are kind of talking to me like I am crazy for suggesting it...but I need to know. Has anyone else experienced extreme lethargy with miralax??? Please help!! Thank you! Guest guest
YES! I believe other parents' children on this board have experienced this. Trust your instincts you know your son best! Two days should be ok to take him off MiraLax unless otherwise stated by your dr . Try to find a natural way to get him to have a BM. MiraLax is a bad chemical & is not recommended for children. Dr's prescribe off label. Many parents here use PlumSmart Plum Juice along with a Calcium Magnesium supplements like Kid Calm/Natural Calm. Guest guest
ASK -- no DEMAND they test for ethylene glycol in his blood stream. I'm going be overly simplistic in my explanation here -- so all scientists please hold on! The marketing around PEG - polyethylene glycol - is that the molecule is too large to be assimilated into the body; therefore it passes right out with the stool. BUT -- in cases where the intestinal wall permeability is damaged (aka leaky gut) that theory seems to be flawed. Additionally, some types of bacteria can break down PEG. So -- lethargy is a common symptom of EG poisoning (yes EG is used as antifreeze). I think there is a strong possiblity that your son has the body chemistry where the PEG IS getting into his bloodstream. In addition, please have them check your son's kidney function ASAP. Guest guest
,Trust your instincts! I don't know about lethargy, but my granddaughter had so many side effects that I would never give it to her again no matter what. She is taking probiotics and eating a diet of high fiber, plus she gets prunes daily. She still has some episodes of constipation, but it is getting better. We limit all dairy and breads that aren't whole grain. She has been off Miralax for 3 months and is still having mood swings and nervous tics. She developed a new one about 2 weeks ago. and she never had anything like that before taking Miralax. I'm wondering how long it will take for it to be out of her system, or did it do permanent neurological damage to her? Time will tell, I guess. Her parents are taking her to a child psychologist currently to help with behavioral issues that started while she was on this horrible drug. She is much better than before (when she demonstrated extreme rage), but she still has issues.KaySubject: Looking for answersTo: miralax Date: Monday, May 21, 2012, 2:35 PM My son is 19 months old and has been on miralax since late February due to chronic constipation secondary to other medical issues. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing Kay, in our experience, some go away and new ones come. It's been 10 years and they're still there. This is why I dedicated myself to doing what I did. many report that they still pick and chew on things.............so very sad.
