I think when it rains, it pours. Just after Dr. Jayant's news here is one

more heart wrenching news. May Dr. Aparna and her family gather courage to

face this misfortune.

Dr Aparna Kadam-Gaikwad (1982 batch) lost her daughter, Shrushti this

afternoon.

Shrushti, a final MBBS medical student ( 2008 batch) at Jawaharlal Nehru

Medical College, Savangi ( Wardha) had hired a taxi to go to Nagpur this

noon. She was taking tuition from a private coaching class for her PG

entrance exam and would go to Nagpur twice a week for this task.

A bus coming from Nagpur lost its balance near Pavnar, 5 km from Sevagram,

and collided with the back end of the taxi. Shrushti lost her life on the

spot.

Dr Vinod Bele's daughter (Vinod Bele, 1980 batch) was also in the taxi- she

escaped with minor head injury and was sent to Nagpur for medical

treatment. The driver also escaped with fractured clavicle.

Aparna had obtained PG in Ophthalmology from MGIMS. Her husband, Dr Suresh

Gaikwad is a leading physician at Nagpur.

I am sorry for this misinformation- I was in the trauma unit where I was told

that Vinod's daughter was accompanying Aparna's daughter in the taxi. Should

have verified the information, but didn't- my mistake.

I spoke to Dr Vinod Bele a little while ago. Please note, everybody that his

daughter wasn't involved in the accident.

Very sorry to hear about Aparna's daughter -- just met her last year at the

reunion-- she was so happy and contented with life in general. Please convey my
