LIMA — As a precaution, 64 inmates have been temporarily transferred

out of a housing unit at Correctional Institution while mold

is tested within the walls there.

No inmate has complained about the mold, which was previously tested

and not found to be a health hazard, ACI Warden said

Thursday.

Air samples were taken Thursday and will be tested by a certified

lab.

Inmates were moved to other beds at ACI and beds at Oakwood

Correctional Facility next door. The inmates will return to their

housing unit after test results are known. did not have a

timeline on when results would be known.

Once the results are back, prison officials will determine if or how

the mold will be abated.

The mold was found in insulation within the walls of the unit.

Officials have no indication of any health problems resulting from

the mold.

ACI is a minimum and medium security prison with about 1,300 inmates

and nearly 400 staff members.
