Guest guest
India is a land of conspiracies. Many of these conspiracies are facts recorded in history. Whereas an equal number of conspiracies are imaginary. There is also a category of conspiracies which are cooked up when someone can do nothing else to save his neck. Lastly, there are stupid conspiracies. The conspiracies which are facts did take place and cannot be denied. Imaginary conspiracies are a product of delusional thinking. The cooked-up conspiracies have been copyrighted by the dishonest. Conspiracies are part of our national heritage. Somebody was always willing to conspire against somebody else. Kaikeyi conspired against Ram to get the throne of Ayodhya for her son Bharat. This became the central point for Ramayan. The Kauravs conspired against Pandavs to usurp everything they owned (including Draupadi). Ancient kingdoms conspired against one another to let the invaders into India. In the medieval times, conspiracies paved the way for the establishment of Muslim kingdoms (remember Jaichand). The British took full advantage of the conspiracies between various Indian states (this is how we remember Mir Jaffer) to form their own empire. Even the great Gandhi was part of the conspiracy to remove Subhash Chandra Bose from the post of Congress president. Jinnah conspired against the whole nation to carve out Pakistan for the Muslims. Delusions are false fixed beliefs. If a person with delusional thinking feels that others are conspiring against him, no power on earth can change this thought. This is why cartoons were seen as a part of a conspiracy to malign the image of a particular person leading to the arrest of innocent people. Others demanded cartoons to be removed from the text books prescribed for our schools because somebody had conspired to have them inserted to denigrate Ambedkar. Then came the era of foreign and political conspiracies. In the 1960s and 1970s everything that went wrong was seen as a CIA conspiracy. Later the foreign hand came into play. Anybody who lost an election blamed his defeat on a political conspiracy. All acts of bad governance are attributed to conspiracy. The corrupt claim their opponents are conspiring against them when they are caught. Riots are again a result of conspiracies. Even the commoners have started using the conspiracy theory when they want to display their stupidity. The main accused in the molestation of a girl in Guwahati was stupid enough to say that it is a conspiracy to show the North-East in poor light. The family of the IFS officer who has been accused of indecent behavior in the US is busy telling everyone that he has been targeted by a conspiracy. The father of a cricketer who had drugs has been quick to hint at a conspiracy against his son. As if this was not enough, now we have a totally different situation. One of the oldest and well-known politicians has been embroiled in a controversy. There is a man who claims this politician is his father. As expected, the politician denied it. The man persisted and filed a paternity suit against his prodigal father. The court ordered a DNA test to decide the matter. The politician refused to give a sample initially. However, he was forced into giving the required sample. The DNA match proves that the politician did father the man in question. Then I heard something so stupid that I fell off my chair laughing. This politician says that there is a conspiracy behind the DNA test. He probably means his genome is not his. It is a very interesting situation where the reluctant father believes (and wants us to believe) that his genes were inserted into his affectionate son by a conspirator. A genetic conspiracy!!! I have not stopped laughing. Hahahahaha..... Bharat
