Guest guest
You are correct Parvin, Any fast is to purify one's innerself, whether it is for a day or for long time.In samskrat it is--Shak (Shanti), Dam (Destoying the bad tendencies--ego, jealousy, enemity, untruth, etc)Uparati (Samanvaya, Sambhav) and titiksha (Tolerance, and patience)..If one can achieve even part of it his life can be more peaceful andblissful. Both husband and wife are really fit. At the time of Iftar we were given fruits, cucumber, and some choley in a small plate and a glass of juice. After performing prayer and chit-chatting for some time then we had dinner. They offered us mixed salad, chicken curry and goat biryani and raita. Now it is up to us to control our portion sizes. It is the same principle as you miss your breakfast and there are chances of eating more at lunch. Fasting is not only about not eating but realising how poor people feel who do not get food. Anger, backbiting and all bad habits are not allowed and that does not mean that it is allowed after Ramadan. But it will not be a fast if one indulges in such things. Charity is to be given on certain amount. There are certain criteria as to who this charity money can be given to. I will keep on writing if I don't stop now.. Guest guest
good explanation. more simler is fasting is called as UPVAS in indian languages. UP means near and VAS means stay i.e. when you stay near GOD it is UPVAS. if you r not near GOD then what ever you may do , it is not UPVAS. Guest guest
Thanks Dr Gupta Sir and Dr Raichura for explaining in simple and few setences what I was actually trying to explain. Thanks Aaswari for further explaination of innerself. In India now a days fast is from 4 am to 7:30pm (approximately), here in Canada, I am having from 4am to 9:38pm, so long, but I just don't know how the day passes. With all or your's blessings and prayer I will complete 29 or 30 fasts.
