Urban legends and other hoaxes

Please be wary of anything that tells you to forward a message to other people.

Most of

these types of things are hoaxes (including most virus warnings.) And please

note the

following section of the NMTC guidelines:

Don't post " virus warnings " to the list. It is enough that everyone know that

they should

never DOWNLOAD any FILE sent to them by a stranger; warnings about specific

viruses are unnecessary, because any file may be dangerous if you didn't ask for

it and

don't know the person it came from (and you CANNOT get a virus by simply

READING e-mail.) Also don't post any kind of " please forward this to everyone

you

know " messages to the list, no matter what it's about or how valid it may seem.
