I would like this to be put with the petition. They need to know how TOXIC miralax is and what it has done to my boys! Our story beginnings with my 2 boys that were put on miralax by our ex-pediatrician for 5 and 7 years. My boys were put on it starting at the age of 1 and 1 1/2. My boys are now 8 and 6. Last year February I put 2 and 2 together and realized miralax was the cause of all the problems my boys were experiencing. I cut them off cold turkey from it and have been trying to get them to good health ever since. My boys were put on miralax due to chronic constipation but the doctor never tried to figure out the root of the problem. Instead they told me it was safe to use miralx. In the meantime my boys gradually over time were getting worst. My 8 yr old was diagnosed with ADHD combined typed with apraxia and sensory processing disorder at the age 6 in kindergarten. I did testing and medicine but still he could not focus and do well in school for the past couple of years. I could not understand why my son was different from other ADHD children and nothing would work. Then came along the tics. One after the other and the OCD, paranoia, aggression, anger, violent behavior, and sleepless night, and on the list goes on!!!!! My 6 year old did not exhibit sooo many symptoms from the beginning. He was totally fine until this last year when the school started to tell me he could not focus and do his work. I insisted he did not have ADD like his brother. But the tics, the aggression, fearful behavior, and sensory things started last year. So I started to research what could be happening to my boys and what was common with them....MIRALAX!!!!!!! I researched miralax and this is how I found all the information and this group. So I tried a gluten and dairy free diet and my boys were doing a bit better. Then they started complaining of hurting to pee and could not pee. Then I began to see cloudy urine. All along the crazy behavior. So I seeked help with an alternative medicine doctor to help us. During this past summer my boys were a bit better but still things were not right. I joined the low oxalate yahoo group and talked with Owens who confirmed that my boys were making endogenous oxalates because miralax but them on the oxalate cycle. So we started a low oxalate diet and OMG....tons of crystals were coming out from urine and stool. They began the "dumping" of oxalates. At the same time I seeked help from another alternative medicine doctor. This situation was far more difficult and I need experts for the gut and everything else. I knew my boys had leaky gut and candida too now. This doctor is in Massachusetts and we drove from land (6hrs) to go to Dr. Mark Hyman's practice. He is the "god" of alternative medicine. He has been on Dr. OZ many many times. If anyone can help us, they can. We have been under their care since October. And they are helping my boys to get better now. They are using the approach of B12 (shots and sublinguals) with a ton of other supplements. B12 is used for detoxing. OMG, more crystals are coming out!!!! You can actually see crystals in the urine. I touched them!!! They are crystals! We are on a gluten, dairy, soy, corn free and low oxalate diet and on a ton of supplements to repair the damage that miralax has done to my boys. Oh and my 6 yr old's heavy metal testing just came back and he has heavy metals (high~ lead, mercury, tin, tungsten, and antimony). He can not detox these metals out of his body. Heavy metals binds up with oxalates! $20,000 later we are trying to get my boys back to good health and help them have some kind of "normal" childhood with all this craziness. And also to heal so they can live long healthy lives. Thank You Miralax for the hell you have put us through!!!
