Guest guest
Hi to all, For two years, I was undiagnosed, could barely walk and was in horrendous pain from stem to stern. Symptoms started after painting a ceiling. Friends and family urged me to see their chiropractor who was trained in the atlas orthogonal method in addition to traditional chiropractics. With a quick glace at my x-rays, he told me he could not offer much help due to a congenital abnormality of C1-2. He also said he would never " crack " my neck but wanted to try the atlas adjustment. During my frequent appointments over the course of at least a year, I often heard other people rave about how great they felt with this treatment. I, on the other hand, never really experienced this. In fact, my last three visits left me momentarily blind afterwards, associated with a quick burning sensation deep inside my head. Very frighteing--sudden complete blackness! That was the last straw. I went to TCI where I was diagnosed with basilar invagination and approx 5 mm herniation. My concern for others is this: My BI and ACM are so close to being within normal limits, my local physicians never mentioned them to me (I work for a large group of hospitals by the way) even though I was nearly disabled. Surely, there are others like me, and I would suggest proceeding with caution in this regard. On a positive note, my chiropractor was an extremely knowledgable, compassionate caregiver during a time when I was at the end of my rope. He had a keen understanding of my brainstem symptoms and was always respectful. During my treatment, he also performed a maneuver on me that was definitely eye-opening. He placed his hand on my shoulder, placed his other hand on the said of my face, then asked me to gently push my face into his hand as much as was comfortable for me. As I did this, I began to feel a cooling sensation throughout my body, as if being immersed in a cool stream on a hot day. The pain in my legs lessened, and I felt perfused wtih good health. By the time I drove home, I was again in pain as usual, but this technique was an explicit example of how the cervical spine effects our entire body. Been wanting to post this for a long time!
