Shirley, I googled the question about ALA and Biotin, all I found was very

positive about the combination, now some use ALA abruvation for another item.

but ALA is for Alpha Lipoic Acid not the alpha gamma lipoic acid, which is GLA,

I read some good reports at the Lief Extension report, they sell ALA and Biotin

together.  in FL

Very glad to hear that some are trying this and are getting good results.

:) I had not heard that ALA interfered with biotin. Don't quite know how

to deal with that since ALA does the liver so much good. pj

I know an 85 yo woman who has had great before/after face results since she

started taking biotin. She does nothing at all for her health otherwise. She is

the kind who shuts me down whenever I talk about eating better or anything like

that. So she is not getting healthier looking skin from anything but the biotin.

And I am sure she gets it from Walmart. So no need to over-think this biotin

thing. If you want younger looking skin, just get some and start taking it. It

worked slowly, but it was steady. The result - after only about 2 years, is a

face that looks 45, not 85. Her body is what shows her age. Biotin has not

helped her in any other way.

months I have a lot of 1 1/2 inch long hair, I can see the ones around my face

area, so thank God it will help my face age gracfully, I am not 65 years young,

I just did not want to be bald!!! But, now I may be able to look a little better

with hair.. in FL

I need help masking the vile bitterness of iodine. I have not taken any since

Nov bcuz I had found DMSO to make it palatable, but DMSO made me reek. I have no

idea how to make it palatable now.

And I am not gonna play with lemon every day, so that idea is out.

I know I'm no fun.

biotin

Thanks for the info about biotin and ALA. Very good to know. And as for

the 85 yr. old lady and her skin improvement--whoopee! Re hair loss--I

have been taking 50 mgs. of Lugol's iodine daily for over 6 years. My

general health is much improved. My hair causes envy in 20 yr. olds, (I'm

70) and I no longer take any thyroid meds. Haven't for years. Iodine has

also given me back much of my hair color. Dr. Brownstein has book

that will literally knock you out of your chair repeatedly. " Iodine: Why

You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It "

The 85 yo woman's hair also got slightly but noticeably fuller. But it did not

return to a thick head of hair yet. Not like her youthful complexion.

OH, that is good ,,that drink does have a strong flavor,,good that it works

for you,,,I tried adding apple cidar to mine and it looked BLACK, but I drank

it, but never used it again,,,I only do about 50mg a day so I just put the drops

in a little water and chuck it down in one slow an chase it with another drink

of water...kinda like doing shotguns :) :)  in FL

, I use about four or five ounces and mix in my iodine to mask the

sharp flavor of iodine, it smooths it out to an acceptable taste, david

You keyed me with your Dr. Pepper method of taking iodine. I thot about it and

could not talk myself into getting soda. I almost NEVER drank soda, so I did not

want to start now. So, two days ago, I decided to try kombucha.

Well! I am happy to say that after almost 4 months, I have jumped right back

into taking 3 droppers of iodine twice a day by putting that into a shot glass,

adding some liquid peppermint drops and kombucha and my tongue is happy, my body

is happy and I am happy! It actually makes iodine taste not bitter. AMAZING.

Booch is continuing to amaze me with how it can alter nasty-tasting things and

make them actually good. I put a few ounces of KT into a nasty green drink I

made a few months ago. I let it sit overnight and the next day it was

scrumptuous! The drink I could not sip the night before turned into a drink I

could not stop slirping down.

Thanks for the idea!

I take 2-4 drops of Iosol Iodine daily in 1/4 glass of " clean " water, and it's

fine tasting.

>I started Biotin 5 days ago and am seeing some results too.  Do we stop once

the wrinkles are out?<

My guess is that if you stopped, the wrinkles would probably come right

back. See below for a link regarding biotin dosage.

This source recommends taking a very small amount, probably the RDA, as far as

anyone knows what that is. However, for many nutrients the RDA is the barest

minimum. My biotin is produced by Country Life.

They recommend 5 mg (5000 mcg) a day, but like all supplements they suggest

discussing it with your doctor. (Oh right! I really wish there WAS a doctor

somewhere who had a clue about supplements. Most doctors I have talked to have

behaved as though I were a incompetent five year old child when I've tried.)

I REALLY think the " discuss with Doc " is along the lines of covering their

backsides - I stopped taking it to see if my " yuck " feelings subsided and

the spot on my hand did not regress - I shall start again & see if my face

improves too :))
