Guest guest
Hello, I am 42 years old and I am very ill. I have thought of everything and tried everything. Nobody knows exactly what I have so I'm diagnosed with depression, anxiety, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia, etc. And I may agree with that but the question is that I also have awful respiratory disease that doctors can't see or treat for over 15 years. My nose, sinuses and lungs burn and hurt 24 hours a day and nothing helps. I feel really sick from it to the point that disables me more than the rest of diagnosis or illneses. I have always lived in an old big and dark apartment which smells like old, dusty and even moldy, has lots of carpets, wall paper, wooden floor with lots of holes between the woods, it has lots of old books old furniture and some rooms have this old style " Luxurious " clothe in the walls instead of paint or paper. So, the house could be having mold but I don't see it. My nose and sinuses and lungs are so damaged that I can't smell but people say it smells like old and a bit damp. As I said it is very dark, never sees the light in most of it. As I said before, I have visited a thousand respiratory specialists, nose, ear and thorat specialists, allergy doctors, internists, neurologists... they diagnose: " hypersensitivity and hyperreactivity " or " vasomotor " rhinitis, but not allergy or infection or anything. I can't have that because my lungs and sinuses are awfully ill with non stop mucus, phlegms, dryness and pain like hell. So, my desperate question is, how can I know if I am sick because of mold or something like that. Thank you very much in advance
Guest guest
: 50 % of the mold is hidden, e.g. wall cavities, ceiling cavities. If you smell a musty odor, most likely you have mold in your apartment. You did not say what type of lung disease you have. Bronhiectasis is very common in people with Aspergillosis. If you have been on steriods, e.g. prednisone, to control inflammation, then you may well have a disseminated infection from molds as well as bacteria. Tiy need to have appropriate diagnosis for possible mold infection/colonization. My contact information is below. Jack D. Thrasher, Ph.D. Jack D.
