Guest guest
Tests: No mold in Jefferson school BY MATT MANOCHIO DAILY RECORD, NJ* Wednesday, March 12, 2008 http://www.dailyrecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articleAID=/20080312/UPDATES 01/80312018 JEFFERSON -- Air quality tests taken at the Briggs Elementary School, where an intermittent damp odor has caused some discomfort in students and staff, revealed that mold isn't present anywhere in the building, Schools Superintendent Kathleen Fuchs said Wednesday. " We got our results back and there is no mold and there is no evidence … of volatile organic compounds at a level that would be hazardous, " Fuchs said during a Wednesday phone interview. Fuchs said Pennsauken-based Pure Earth Environmental Lab took samples from the building two weeks ago and informed Fuchs of the results on Monday. The air tests picked up eight volatile organic compounds but at levels far below what the Occupational Safety and Health Administration deems unacceptable, Fuchs said. The VOCs can be emitted by a myriad of products, like paints, lacquer, cleaning supplies, air polish, even air fresheners, " she said. " They simply talked about what the bacteria and fungi levels were, " Fuchs said. " They tested inside, they tested outside. Essentially what they're saying is there is no issue. " Fuchs said the district's consultant, Trenton-based Environmental Remediation and Management, will have a member attend to present the findings to the public during Monday's school board meeting at 8 p.m. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Matt Manochio can be reached at (973) 428-6627 or mmanochi@.... Who paid to have the tests done. It sounds like hush money to me. Where did all the water go that was leaking through the so called 50 year roof. I heard they had plastic up on the cielings trying to catch the water falls. What a joke you got a bunch of Elliot Spitzers running that school district. Bunch of boobs!!!! Schools Wed Mar 12, 2008 4:23 pm ok, so there is no mold. then maybe something died in the walls. It shouldn't matter what it is or what is causing it. If the rooms had to be closed down and people admit there is a " smell/odar " then they (the school district) should still rip stuff down and find it. isn't that why we pay taxes....
