Guest guest
Hi Sandie I had over 250 emails to go through because I have been so crazed with caregiving. My aunt is so impossible. The short version is this. She fell getting into bed on Wednesday night and laid on the floor all night. She has " Response Link " to push a button around her neck, but did not do it. That was an ER trip all day. They sent her home only bruising no broken bones. Then Sunday she laid on the floor for 6 hours without pushing the button. My husband and I got her up. She had a black eye, but seemed okay. Then early Monday morning I called and got no answer, so I headed over and she had rolled out of bed on her side and was wedged in between the walker and her bed. She is now really sore. She will not go into a facility. So I have given up that this point. And....on top of all that.... My mother's NH called and while they were transferring her from her bed to the shower chair the CNA's made a large skin tear in her leg. So I went over and it was all bandaged up. So today I made them up wrap it and I took pictures. It goes from her knee to her ankle!!!!! They told me it was 6 inches, but it is 28 something, not inches, I can't remember the term they used. And it is painful. So I made sure they were increasing the Tylenol and told them that I will not have any students or new CNA's. They must have worked there for at least 3 months. And I have requested certain CNA's that I know are good and have been there for a long time. I am going to take pictures through the healing process also. This is the first time in almost 2 years that anything like this has happened. They have never, to my knowledge, hurt her before. I made it clear that I will be checking continually. Puppies are walking now and starting to climb out of their box, so we have had to put up the puppy coral. They are really getting cute. is doing pretty well in school. He is still struggling on some levels, but is improving all the time. Guest guest
OMG Dena. I'm soooo sorry to hear about your mom's skin tear!!! It sounds awful. :( And your aunt who is falling out of bed... Wonder what you can do there? I first thought just keep the mattress on the floor - but that's a long way down, isn't it? My mom's bed in the NH had the ability to go down to 6 inches off the floor - but that would probably be expensive. I wonder if there's a way of getting one of those beds at a discount somehow... There's got to be a way... {{{{Dena}}}} Keeping you in my thoughts... > > Hi Sandie > > I had over 250 emails to go through because I have > been so crazed with caregiving. Guest guest
HI Dena, Did the owners/managers of your mom's NH explain exactly how this happened to your mom? I'm sure they have to report it somewhere? How about buying some pads to put on either side of your aunts bed - won't help much but its got to be better than falling on the floor directly? Please hug those puppies for me.
