Dear all:

This week, Rishi Adhikary (MGIMS 2006 batch) was selected by IIT for

M.Tech in Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE), a two-year full time

program. He will choose either of the two IIT campuses to pursue his

dreams: Mumbai or Kanpur.

Incidentally, of the 17 candidates who made the final cut for the final

program, Rishi is the only doctor!

Rishi graduated from MGIMS in 2010 and finished his internship in our

hospital a few months back. Gifted with an inquisitive and innovative

mindset, Rishi decided early on during his undergraduate career, to travel

a path less travelled by. Deeply interested in understanding the mysteries

of science and ever eager to apply such knowledge where it matters most,

Rishi did several ICMR funded research projects during his MGIMS days-

sampling basic sciences, clinical medicine and social sciences.

Rishi possesses a quality most young doctors should have but few possess

these days- empathy and compassion. I was his mentor during the

undergraduate days and closely interacted with him during his internship- I

was very impressed with his ability to reach out and develop a genuine

rapport with socially disadvantaged patients that frequent MGIMS hospital.

His blogs, based on experiential stories, make an interesting reading.

Well done, Rishi, We are very proud of you. May your stint in

nanotechnology and targeted therapy- the areas you have chosen to work on

over the next two years- make this world a more beautiful place. And may

your tribe grow.
