Guest guest
My sister has a yorkie mix about 8 yrs old, has hurt his back about a year ago, was fine till a few days ago, hes hurt it again but this time is much worse. He cant use his back legs, and is in some pain with the inflammation. The vets have him on steroids and anti-biotics, and probably pain meds, too. We used DMSO before he went to the vet orally, but so far hasnt worked. Any advise on things to combine with DMSO or DMSO use once he gets home is appreciated. Guest guest
Basically, if the disk is ruptured, there are only a few things you can do. The have things they can inject that will dissolve part of the disk (surgery without a knife basically). The other alternative is surgery. Most vets do not do this kind of surgery and you would probably need to go to a specialist. As for the DMSO, I have had dogs with problems like this and had some results that merit a try. I have given DMSO both oral and on the back. I have had best results with multiple applications on the back at the point where the problem is. Here I use 50% DMSO. I also follow it later with some emu oil for any histamine reaction or skin drying. The trick is finding the spot and getting that spot and the area around it. A lot depends on the dog and the injury. There isn't a lot you can do for a ruptured disk that is putting pressure on the spinal cord. Vets will use things and usually give you pills like prednizone but there limitations to that too. It doesn't fix the problem. It just reduces the inflammation. > > My sister has a yorkie mix about 8 yrs old, has hurt his back about a year ago, was fine till a few days ago, hes hurt it again but this time is much worse.
