Guest guest
Hi, I had sent 's MRI's to a NSG in Chattanooga for him to review. This was a NSG that assisted in some craniofacial surgery on several years back. If anyone happens to come across his name as a possible doctor to see, run the other direction real fast. Don't waste a second of your time with him. His name is Dr. Strait. I won't say he isn't an excellent NSG, but you certainly don't want him treating you for Chiari. He probably wouldn't anyway. You know how most of the NSG's we come across, kinda got stuck on page 2 of the Chiari textbook. Wellll, this one didn't even make it past the first paragraph of page 1. He would not recommend surgery unless one had a syrinx. He couldn't understand why even had the decompression. " She probably wasn't symptomatic to start out with " . And for all of you out there, if you don't have a syrinx then your symptoms pre-op or post-op are not even related to Chiari. He did say that because of 's craniofacial problems, she needed every bit of space within her skull just for the brain. Duhhhh, that's telling me that there couldn't be enough space for adequate CSF flow. I then started to just tune out what he was saying. I cut the conversation short, thanked him for his time and asked to send the MRI's back to me. I wasn't even upset by his lack of knowledge. For some reason, I wasn't expecting anything good from him. One down and one to go.
