Guest guest
If I remember correctly the grapeseed extract started off as French Maritime Pine (FMP) sold as Pycnogenol and then they discovered pycnogenol was in more things & grapeseed was so much cheaper to use - so we all ended up taking grapeseed extract instead, at more or less the same price, of course. Some brands gradually increased the grapeseed as they reduced the FMP ..... Marketing is a wonderful tool. Jane
Guest guest
The history is Pycnogenol was and is in France for at least 50 yrs and I took the " P " for the 1st yr in 1995, then wanted to stay with it but it was pricey back then, $40/mo, so a health food consultant said " why not take grape seed extract, it's as effective and less expensive, so I've been on G.S.E. for about 16 yrs, but I do buy Pycnogenol at times....they say G.S.E. is more effective....  Pycnogenol came to the U.S. in about 1994.  I don't know, did G.S.E. first originate in France too?  You can't buy a grape today with a seed.  ________________________________ To: DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO Sent: Sunday, March 4, 2012 7:06 PM Subject: Re: OT a bit BUT/grapeseed  If I remember correctly the grapeseed extract started off as French Maritime Pine (FMP) sold as Pycnogenol and then they discovered pycnogenol was in more things & grapeseed was so much cheaper to use - so we all ended up taking grapeseed extract instead, at more or less the same price, of course. Guest guest
Yes I took Pycnogenol first in or around '95 too (Neways " Revenol " ) which we had to order via NZ as not yet avilable here .. the seedless grapes are in season here at the moment - and we usually get seeds in our grapes otherwise, some of which out of season come from the US. Not sure where GSE originated.
