When Barbara Bremsner picks up her son from South Whidbey

Intermediate School in Langley, she can tell something isn't right.

" It's a very helpless feeling, " said Bremsner. " He has headaches all

the time. He is fatigued all the time. "

Bremsner blames it on black mold. It's been growing in the back of

her son's classroom.

" We found a couple of small patches that were six inches by two

inches that have black mold on them, " a school official said.

Black mold is caused by severe water damage and can cause cold or

flu symptoms as well as other health problems.

Room 201 has since been sealed off and vacated.

School officials say the mold doesn't pose any serious risk. The

room is sealed and the mold isn't airborne. But school leaders said

they'll be testing the adjacent rooms just in case.

Still, at least two students and one teacher have reported getting

symptoms, Bremsner's son included.

Bremsner says the district needs to do more.

" I think all the kids need to be removed and put in a safe

environment, " said Bremsner.

District officials will begin repairing the moldy classroom Tuesday

afternoon. Repairs should take two weeks.
