Guest guest
Daughter of Hazel here, I haven't posted for awhile, as we have been blessed with about 4 months of relief from severe Lewy symptoms, thanks to Exelon patch and Sinemet (both in 1/2 smallest doses). I have been reading, though and know this is the place to vent. I have fielded the third call since 4:00 pm, and it is now 5:11 pm, about her fear that she is going to be arrested. She is in AL and the patch just seems to have stopped working. We have increased the dosage to keeping the lowest dose on for 24 hours instead of 12 hours and just hope this does the trick. When I read about you all having the same experiences and staying positive through the confusion and hallucinations ( dogs in the room, 13 phone calls from 12am to4 am because the clock face has changed to letters and she doesn't know what time it is, someone sleeping in her bed, and on and on) I have hope. I think, at least she can still talk, dial the phone, get some of what I am saying. Not all the minutes are bad. So thanks for your positive and helpful posts. Daughter of Hazel in AL since April 2007, DX in May 2007 with LBD.
Guest guest
linda, positive thoughts are the hardest when you have beenl lewy free for even a few days, you may ihave to remove clocks and things that move, or cover mirrors so ther person looking at her iun the 'window' isnt bothering her, remember she maybe living 20-30 years ago and the older woman in the mirror cannot possibly be her, try to change teh subject, like mom have you had supper what did you eat, or did you see the pretty plants on the table i left you *that idea always worked for us as daddy loved flowrers* do you want me to bring ice cream that alwyas worked for us. or you may have to have the phone turned off in her room and just have her talk to people when tey are visiting with their cell phones, daddy lost the usage of a phone 4 months after diagnosed. and just remind her you love her and you wont let anyone bother her and you will call the nursing staff. manytimes just assuring them or changing the subject will help. she callsyou becuase she trusts you. hugs, sharon lindaj_white1107 wrote: Daughter of Hazel here, I haven't posted for awhile, as we have been blessed with about 4 months of relief from severe Lewy symptoms, thanks to Exelon patch and Sinemet (both in 1/2 smallest doses). Guest guest
I think I would take the clock out of the room and possibly the phone at night as well. If she can't see a clock, it won't change on her, and she will probably forget one was there. Perhaps the staff could do those things at night and put them back in the daytime. Guest guest
, With huge changes, always check first for a UTI. I would forget that every time and the MD would have me come and sure enough. That would be my first step. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.
