Guest guest
What a shame that the same thing is happening everywhere in the world. I honestly thought this mold problem was better in Europe but I guess not. Same story all over and it is heart breaking to me!! Sue Tenant's health fears at house Dorset Echo - England,UK* By Miriam _http://www.thisisdohttp://wwhttp://www.thttp://wwwhttp://www.thishttp_ (http://www.thisisdorset.net/display.var.2146255.0.tenants_health_fear) s_at_house.php A HOUSING association tenant fears her partner's life-threatening condition is being made worse by her mouldy damp walls. , 37, has been a tenant of Magna Housing Association (MHA) in her two-bedroom house in Hope Close, Crossways for 10 years. Her partner Stuart Coombs, 46, is currently waiting for a double lung operation because he suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and constantly requires an oxygen tank to breathe. Miss said that her home was insulated by the housing association eight years ago against her wishes and now they are 'forced to live with mould and damp' in most of the rooms in her house. She said: " We didn't want the insulation because we had been warned that it could cause damp. " When I tried to refuse the insulation I was told by Magna that as a tenant we didn't have the right to say no. " Now the damp is bad in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and I have to keep all the windows open for ventilation, which makes Stuart's breathing even worse. " Miss , a full-time carer, said that she is so worried about her partner that she has asked a surveyor to look at the wall, and he said the work would cost £300. Miss said she has asked Magna Housing Association to do something about the walls but was told that it was a problem with the paint. She added: " They have been round to see the walls and have seen my partner on an oxygen tank and I think they are just being heartless. " Stuart was on life support for 36 days after he had a full lung failure last March and the damp is just making things worse. " Magna Housing Group spokesman Emma Lambe said: " Magna has visited Miss on a number of occasions and can confirm the problems in the property are a result of Miss 's mode of living and the lack of air circulating in her home. " Last year the housing association agreed that because of damage to artexed ceilings in the property some areas would be treated and redecorated where needed. " Miss Lambe confirmed that a surveyor attended the property this month to inspect Miss 's case. She said: " During the inspection a test was taken and no moisture was found in the structure of the property resulting in a conclusion that any mould was due to condensation. " The only other moisture in the property could have come from a small leak in the bathroom which was fixed promptly and was most certainly not the cause of any mould. " She added: " Although MHA appreciates that Miss 's partner suffers from ill health, the problems in this property are caused by her mode of living and other than the advice repeatedly given there is little more we can do to help.
