Guest guest
Unless it is growing in fabric or AC coils changing the in air cabin filter should help. Some of the newer cars have them but not all. Seems I can`t get away from mold. I have been noticing when I hit a certain vent I smell MOLD coming at me. I immediately shut it off. This had been going on for a little while before I finally brought it in to Volkswagon last week. **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. Guest guest
Try blasting the heat for a few minutes. Sometimes they'll kill the mold. OR take a damp washcloth and wipe off the little vents. Wait til you see how black it gets.

Every time I turned on the A/C my nose started smelling smoke (this meant there was mold in the air-I react this way). Anyway, the dealer said they have this problem ALOT and offered to take back the car before the lease was up and get me a new car. Now I was so desperate then that I said yes, but now I'm just waiting for this Chevy's A/C to go moldy on me again. Never buying Chevy again! I don't know if there is anything you can do besides not using the vent anymore. Sorry. >
Guest guest
What year and make is your vehicle. Some manfuactueres put in a closed system where the water did not drain onto the groud. These systems wil always grow mold. The subject matter is covered in the book edited by C. Straus, Sick Building Syndrome. You can find this boold by doing a Google search. Jack D. Thrasher, PH.D. Guest guest
Depending on your car there may be a hepa-filter you could put in where the existing air filter is. Some models make them. Also, it won't be a perfect solution but you ask your mechanic or dealer if they can clean the vents, coils, etc. If you're chemically sensitive, you may need to try something else. We had our old volvo cleaned out by the mechanic a year ago and it helped, but I don't recall what they used. Guest guest
Hi ne, I had the same problem. All of the in and out of the contaminated home crosscontaminated my car.Have the car cleaned/vacced really well especially your carpets and seats, the dealer will treat the a/c with a chem but be careful if you have become chem sensitive now too like me as this wasnt an option. I ozoned the inside of the car and it helped me but I have heard warnings about ozone and carpet and ozone oxidizes everything including rubber/plastics which you have to be careful about. For me I didnt care getting no reactions to mold/chems/mycotoxins was the priority!!!!Maybe do these items step by step until its is resolved!!! Guest guest
Hi Bob! Gee I do still have an ozonator here. Although I do think they have to find the leak first if there is one, then perhaps I can zap the insides for a short time and see if it helps. How long did you zap it for? nne~
