Guest guest
this illness is one of inflammation and mucous production..so how good is this control or will it make us sicker? Hi Sandie, I agree, there’s somehow a balance we have to find between suppression and not letting an infx become so rampant it damages even more and more lung tissue. If the cough is non-productive (my most violent coughing was) then it is spasm in the bronchii causing it, but it isn’t effective in removing the cause of the spasm which is the infx further down and out in periphery of the lung sacs, the smaller bronchioles and those little sacs which are supposed to be full of healthy air, where blood O2 and old blood is supposed to exchange – and can’t if its full of purulent mucous (or pus, if you like!). If it stays there too long it breeds up normal flora of the lung to dangerous levels, so abx are only ever damage control, not removal of the ‘bugs’. These bacterium are essential, in their normal quantities. As Sandie has so often said, keeping that mucous free-moving - so it’s easier to get rid of and so, less tiring, will keep us at the best we can be, hopefully w/out needing meds in some cases. Guest guest
, Yes, abx seem to cause abdominal problems for me too. I've been on Zithromax every MWF for the past several months and I usually get diarrhea once a week. I take my probiotics faithfully but the problem still seems to recur. Good luck, Cassie
