Don't know where you live but the " Black fly " problem is already swarming here in upstate NY. I don't know how many time I've been bit but they do leave a swelling..{ It's the earliest I've ever had to break out the Avon skin so soft to keep them away} {No I don't sell it}----One thing I found that really helps is the salve I made from Calcium Bentonite clay. It works for burns, bites & itches.. Might work & maybe worth a try...This sounds crazy, like a bar of soap under the sheet for leg cramps, but a friend tried it & it worked---tape a penny to the bite ---It worked for a friend's bee sting. I haven't been stung-{ knocking on wood} but if I do get stung I'll try it instead of mud. Good luck, Lois--{ the salve is just clay & distilled water mixed & let set over night.I keep a small jar on hand all the time--my son just used it yesterday for a burn,,}}
Guest guest
Caladryl mixed with dmso might give temp relief. But caladryl is a steroid I think. (from a regular grocery store) We do this for bee stings. We were told about it by the emergency room nurse when we were there for a bee sting reaction. It works amazingly well. Good Luck, Elaine
Guest guest
Caladryl does NOT have any steroids in it. It does have Benadyl (an anti-histamine) and Calamine lotion. Not sure I would mix it with DMSO though. Its a suspension with solid particles, not a solution so MADE to stay TOPICALLY on top of skin. > > > In a message dated 4/22/2012 12:59:03 A.M. Guest guest
OK then. But I thought that Benadryl was a steroid. Anyone out there know for sure. > > Caladryl does NOT have any steroids in it. Guest guest
it's an antihistamine, not a steroid, sold over-the-counter. It also comes as pills. Generics are everywhere. --tls Re: Insect bites / clay salve & a penny OK then. But I thought that Benadryl was a steroid.
