Guest guest
I had never heard of a man called Gopal Kanda. I recently learned that he was the Home Minister of a state. I did not appreciate that he has been accused of pushing one of his employees to suicide. And I did not like it at all that he absconded when police wanted to question him regarding the allegations against him. His various houses and offices were raided but he was not found at any of those places. It is not entirely his fault because our police always reaches a place after the accused disappears. Kanda and his kaand is being discussed extensively on TV. I have seen his photos. He is a prototype businessman-politician. I do not know whether he is a businessman who became a politician or vice versa. He always appeared confident, with a discernible element of arrogance. His face gave the impression " Mera koi kuchh nahin kar sakta " . This happens when a person knows that he has all the right connections and knows all the right people. This belief in invincibility the politicians have is mainly responsible for Kanda absconding for so many days. More disturbing is the incompetence of the law to deal with Kanda and his clones. Will Kanda be punished for absconding when he was required to present himself at a police station? He is not worried on this account because nobody gets punished for 'hide and seek' they play with police. Police is not sincere in any way to apprehend the likes of Kanda. It is laughable that a Home Minister goes missing and nobody can find him. The Kandas in our country can be dealt with easily. It requires very simple methods to set them right. Let us see who absconds if we can enforce the following steps: 1. Imprisonment for one month for each day of disappearance for the first week. 2. Imprisonment for one year for each week of disappearance for the next three weeks. 3. Confiscation of 25% of the absconder's property after one month of disappearance. 4. Confiscation of 50% of the absconder's property after two months of disappearance. 5. Confiscation of the entire property of the absconder after three months of disappearance .. * Note: The property will not to be given back. Indians are not a law-abiding people. Only a danda can make a Kanda behave well. Bharat
