bovine & cadavar patch risks

In a really helpful post from Suzanne C. regarding insurance questions, she

mentioned some risks about using bovine and cadavar patches that could lead to

mad cow like diseases. Yikes! Have others been told about these risks? Tell me

more. Have most people opted for the " create your own patch from your leg bone "

option? My nsg said this isn't so common anymore because the lab stuff is just

as good and doesn't involve a second patient incision. i.e. less pain and

recovery problems.
