Guest guest
Hi Dianne, The best natural repellant I've used is BugRepel. It works! I have used it on myself, my dogs and my horses. You can buy the concentrate and mix it up to the strength you need. You an add it to shampoos, a mister bottle etc. Best part is that it smells wonderful, unlike so many. Here is a link to the site: http://www.bugrepel.com/ hope this helps! mara
Guest guest
Hi Dianne, Perhaps the link was faulty--it says it works on mosquitoes right on the first page and I can testify to that from my own experience. I've quoted her below: A 10 gallon fishtank was filled with hundreds of house flies (Culex pipiens) that carries West Nile Virus, mosquitoes, and other mosquitoes and other unpleasant insects. I kept my arm in there for 3 1/2 hours and got NO BITES! Do you suppose the president of any other commercial bug repellent would do that? I bet my life on Bugrepel, shouldn't you? It is a big site and not well put together, but if you scroll down you will find the product she makes for spiders and other such bugs. I've copied the info below. best, Mara AntFree Spray 32oz All Natural-Non-Toxic Mint Scented Ant Guard The easiest way to naturally remove all the ants, silverfish, and spiders safely and naturally. This is a concentrate to spray around to remove and repel the ants and for the ants to take back to their nests so it can dehydrate the offspring also. It is naturally bad for the bugs and will not only work on the adults but also dehydrates the offspring--they take it back to their nests after they get near the scent. It will repel them because they will not want to be near the scent. It can be mixed with water and still be effective. Spray around where you have a problem. Just shake the bottle & spray it all over. Spray around the perimeter of the buildings and the rooms where the walls and floors meet. Spray around your doors and windows to keep the bugs out and get rid of those that are there. Spray around the inside perimeter of the infested area and around your rooms, especially the kitchen, bathrooms, basements, and utility rooms. (These are the first places insects go). Spray on the carpet and couches to freshen & remove the insects. Please spray around the kitchen, under refrigerator and oven, in the corners, in back of cabinets, in the back of bookcases, around the perimeter of the room where the floor and walls meet. Spray around the doors to outside, the windows, & around the rooms. Spray where the ants are coming in. It will not stain and creates a pleasant scent in the rooms from the essential oils used. If fleas and ants are bad and you have floors that you mop, mix with up to 1 gallon of water and mop the floors with it. It will not stain, discolor, or make the floors sticky but will drive the insects away. Vacuum to remove insects. Spray on outside furniture to keep insects away-- please reapply after a heavy rainstorm. Avoid eye contact. Not responsible for misuse. Shake before using. Keeps insects away so everyone can play. This concentrate is strong with a great deal of peppermint, spearmint, cinnamon, and wintergreen essential oils -great for spiders -great to keep mice and rats away--spray garage, basement, where they are coming in and in back of cabinets safe for kitchen > Hi Mara, > I appreciate the heads up, but in the promo material no mention is made of either spiders or mosquitoes. I think it's either one or the other. > I never see any other kind of bug. I live in a city, not in the country where I know that the selection of creeping, crawling, flying (biting) insects is limitless! > Dianne > >
Guest guest
WOW! great news! I am so pleased that it is helping!! Hope you like the BugRepel as well. Mara > > I ordered the bugrepel but haven't used that yet. I also ordered the flea, ant, roach, rodent Guard. > We live in TX where we have terrible fire ant problems. For at least 5 years I have been working to rid myself of a gigantic ant bed that seems to grow every year and I also have a new one that has cropped up this year not far from the giant one. > > I sprinkled the Guard on Thursday and checked on both beds this morning. The newest one is a ghost town. The older one has some ants still around the lower edge so I added more Guard to that area. Amazing. > > So Mara, thanks for the info. > > Edith > > -----Original Message----- > From: Mara Miles > > Hi Dianne, > > The best natural repellant I've used is BugRepel. It works! Guest guest
The DE also works to keep snakes away. Supposedly, it gets in between their scales and drives 'em nuts. DE is totally safe but if I remember correctly, the DE needs to be refreshed when it gets wet (getting rained on out in the elements). Lola > ** > > > For fire ants, DE works.
