Guest guest
Exactly. This stuff off-gassing from carpet, and a brief pesticide exposure, are what sent my daughter into full-blown MCS, to the point of being homebound. Standard carpet really is nasty stuff, extremely dangerous; few people really understand how much so. In a message dated 5/5/2008 11:13:37 P.M. Guest guest
Please Note: You must look for the MSDS sheets on all purportedly 'safe' products. Just because they are less toxic than many of the conventional materials sold, does NOT mean they are safe in and of themselves. In order to seal a carpet, you will be applying chemicals. I personally can't tolerate 'lock-out' carpet sealer by AFM/Safe choice. It doesn't mean you won't benefit from using it but it does mean that it may challenge your system whether or not you find the odor detectable, offensive or don't overtly have a reaction at all. With many additives to products these days which mask odors, it is often not possible to use your sense of smell to determine safety. Did you know the EPA has a listing of 1500 fragrance chemicals that pesticide companies add to pesticides to hide their smell? Claims of safety also don't take allergies into consideration. Caveat emptor. Look at the chemistry, not at the salesmanship employed. Barb Rubin ================================= > > Exactly. Guest guest
I can relate. I hope you and your daughter are both out of the place with the toxic carpeting. You will get better if you are. llaci
Guest guest
Thanks. She is being homeschooled and I rarely take her to indoor public/private places, so as to not further expose her. Just taking it one day at a time. Clair In a message dated 5/6/2008 7:52:57 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, jjaksic@... writes: I can relate. Guest guest
Does anyone know if there is a carpet that we can use. I have any elderly mother who lives with us. Our basement stairs are carpeted but it really needs to be redone. I have put it off and really don't want to leave them bare in case of a fall. Is there a carpet that is odor/chemical free? Exactly. This stuff off-gassing from carpet, and a brief pesticide exposure, are what sent my daughter into full-blown MCS, to the point of being homebound. Standard carpet really is nasty stuff, extremely dangerous; few people really understand how much so. **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight?
