use on knee joint replacement

Hi,

new to the group.

my husband had knee replacement surgery and the tissues around the area are

still painful and swollen some. we were wondering if you can use dmso on a

new joint that has some plastic in it. there is plastic which cushions the

joint and some in the knee cap.

does the solvent element of dmso affect the plastic.

also, his other knee is bad but he is wondering if it is safe to use there.

does the dmso travel through out the body and possibly ending up on the

other knee's plastic parts and the solvent affecting it.
