Wonder if they will still be promoting the National School Board Association's position on how to deal with those who have mold claims in this district, now that it is the district offices and the superintendent that are the ones who are ill. Wonder how the " shut 'em down and shut up " approach works when it is those in control that are made ill. 1 _Defense Considerations in Mold Litigation: Investigation, Causation, Mitigation & Remediation II_ (http://www.nsba.org/SecondaryMenu/COSA/Search/AllCOSAdocuments/DefenseConsidera\ tionsinMoldLitigationInvestigationCausationMiti gationampRemediationII.aspx) ABSTRACT: By: Dale O. Guest guest
And heck.... I bet they were all most likely told that there was a study done on a mouse and that the conclusions showed " It's All In It's Head " and that the illnesses of Migraines, Vomiting, Intestinal Bleeding, Asthma, Thyroid Damage, Fibromyalgia, Sleep Disorders, Extreme Fatigue, Anxiety, Depression, Tremors, Burn Rashes, Hairloss, Urinary Problems, Infertility, and various Cancers is all due to a " Psychological " condition. Guest guest
Well, as Ginny Lane used to say (and probably still does): " It all depends on whose ox is getting gored. " > > And heck.... Guest guest
You took the words right out of my mouth. That was funny. I notice that school administrators who get sick have far less trouble than the lowly teachers, secretaries and God forbid the children. > > > > And heck.... Guest guest
Or have 'nosebags' pry into the personal lives of the teachers, 'write them up as unsatisfactory', rifle their desks when out sick or at a funeral, have another teacher " order " materials for their classroom, instead of ordering your own supplies and books, take away field trips from the kids for no reason, I could go on ad infinitum. Then the book order and supplies would be " misplaced. " One year I was given 2 packages of yellow lined paper and 3 dozen pencils, on the first day of school. News flash. They learned to READ regardless. As well as the class with all the goodies. It seemed that every day there was another scheme to 'break me.' And it came from the " top down. " It was the most insulting and offensive experience in my life. And, if you can imagine the assortment of school breakfast cereals, my kids got plain Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies, when the other kids all got Golden Grahams, Frosted Mini Wheats, Honey Nut Cheerios, etc. Adults can fight their battle differently. Children KNOW their class is being " singled out " - and are intuitive enough to know something is wrong. And, if, as the teacher you are doing all you can for them, they KNOW, they will " Have your back. " They would watch the door when they would see the principal sneakily peering in from an angle. " She is out there being sneaky, " they would say... The kids would tell me when my desk was rifled. It is really a different kind of a problem, because the people you are getting sick with are not just " colleagues " or adults, they are children in your care. A two-tiered problem. In loco parentis. You are standing in the shoes of their parents, while in your care. I always told them " I am your 'mother' in school. " So, am I sorry for their exposure? Only when they (school boards and administrations) stand in the shoes of those children or teachers and school secretaries, as " exposed " fellow human beings, will school administrators understand the lack of empowerment, when you are in a " toxic gulag, " with innocent children; will things change. I never wished ill on anyone. I could not believe I met people who allowed children and teachers, who dedicated their lives to educate the young people of this country, to get sick and even die for nothing. Now, " what goes around, can come around " to the powers that be for all I care. When you go to work in good faith, and all you get in return is bad faith, how can people expect you to respond? We only have two cheeks. When those in power have a taste of sickness, met with non-responsiveness in the doctor's office followed by charges of 'malingering' - they will finally " get it. " We are all breathing the same poison. Mold does not discriminate. It DOES matter whose ox is getting gored. And, it was one of my late mother's sayings...It must have rubbed off... > > > > And heck.... Guest guest
Ginny, I have heard a lot of this before from you but not all of it. I am just absolutely horrified. We all have suffered in different ways after entering this hell hole that is mold exposure but to read about it in this vivid manner; punishing not only you but your little baby students, is borderline criminal. Can you imagine: " I am sick, please help me. " and this is what you get? There is an underlying faction in this country on this issue that allows and accepts this unAmerican treatment and it's all about money. We are on our way to stop this but it doesn't detract from what you went through. We honor everyone's individual experience. Mulvey son **************Need a new ride? Guest guest
- You are very horrified, because you know the " players " in this debacle. What happened was horrific; no field trips, each time I filed with some " environMENTAL " agency, (that I had a right to file) I would be " visited/read harrassed " by the administration. They said " no money for a bus for MY class. " Well, I solved that with a personal/business contact - I did not want my kids deprived of the " Nutcracker " ballet, after we did the story and the music in class. Here is the problem. I looked at those school kids as " my own " and hoped that the way I treated my class, would " come around " to my own children. Isn't that the way it is supposed to work? I found a bus company owner to take not only my class but the other classes as well. Free! The morning of the trip I was " visited " again. This time the principal brought a " suit " to take notes. ( A high up official.) So my kids were LAST to get on the bus I arranged. No matter. We held our heads high. They (principals) have a right and duty to make sure you are doing the right thing, and my door was always open (they never stayed before). Principals who know you are doing your job, leave you alone. This was not " usual " practice. It was calculated for harassment. My gut told me that if they thought I was that important to hound, then I must be winning. The people who were really most horrified were my law professors and classmates, who were parents, grandparents and just ordinary citizens. It is a terrible thing to have " rage " make you act, but the legal community and law school was far more supportive than the educational one. Or, the political one, for the most part. One that I grew up in and knew very well. I am still disgusted with those who did not act for the benefit of the children. People should not have to ask for a safe building for their kids. It is their right. And, teachers should not have to be involved in this battle. It is hard enough to be teacher, parent, nurse, social worker, cop, etc., in a place which has become violent, and dangerous. Teachers often risk life and limb walking unarmed into a school, facing kids who are troubled and dangerous. Angry and homeless kids. Kids who speak no or little English. Or, living with a grandparent because the parents are not capable of caring for their kids. Or, in a 'group' home(orphanage), because no one wants them. Kids, for whom the school is the nicest part of their day, where they get two meals, at government expense, because they are that needy. This is not middle-America. And, they are our future workforce, tax base and caregivers... In school, we are charged with teaching " democracy " but " school life " is not a democracy. Guest guest
Hello Everyone: I have been involved in this issue for several weeks. I had contact with some employees and the Superintendent, Dr. Hinson. Upon the Dr. Hinson's request I was ask to submit a proposal to examine and test the building for mold and bacterial contamination. Also, we proposed to interview the employees with respect to their illness and recommend diagnostic testing. Dr. Hinson admitted to me that he was quite ill along with several of the employees in the building. Needless to say, I have not heard from Dr. Hinson, but do continue to receive emails from some employees. I have a strong suspicion that pressure has come down which is attemping to suppress further knowledge of the condition of this building. Jack D. Guest guest
Wonder if they will do what the Chamber of Commerce did when some of their key employees were sickened by mold...Fly them to Dallas for treatment while continuing to promote that YOUR illnesses are just a result of trial lawyers, media hype and Junk Science.
