The one time that an order was lost from, MY favorite supplier (Beyond

a Century), it was resent immediately, no questions asked.

I wouldn't cut any supplier out until they've ACTUALLY done you wrong.

Dianne.

I'm coming in on the conversation late, but why don't you tell the company

(i.e. Vitacost) to send the package with " Signature Required " so they have

to give it to you in person and you sign for it?

Subject: Receiving packages from UPS or FedEx

BTW, I'm cross posting, so if you get this twice, sorry!

For those who order their supplements online, using either UPS or FedEx to

deliver them (as I do), I'm asking for advice. I'm having trouble receiving

my packages!

I've just had two separate experiences this week which have totally upset

me. The first was a shipment of pet supplies which weighed close to 40 lbs,

to be delivered by FedEx.

The man rang my bell and left a huge heavy box just inside the door and

split. He didn't even identify himself, but as I was expecting the package I

ran downstairs to get it. (If I'm not quick,

packages disappear.) I had to break down the box, and carry the items

upstairs one step at a time. It was difficult as there were four separate

heavy items.

Today, UPS ground, who was delivering my monthly order of supplements from

Vitacost did not ring my bell, but left my package worth over $140 outside

IN THE STREET! I don't live in some idyllic small town where that might seem

reasonable, but in Manhattan, New York City. An unguarded package might last

about five minutes, if that.

I called both Vitacost and UPS. Let's hear it for the tact of Vitacost's

customer service. When I told her what

had happened she laughed, I guess because I was so upset! If we had been

face to face she wouldn't have found me quite so funny! She told me that if

I'd pay another $140 they would replace the order. Oh, gee thanks! That's

the last they will EVER see of me.

UPS was more conciliatory. They assured me that they didn't think I was

lying. Apparently it will take 8 business days to " investigate. " I suggested

they throw in a psychiatric evaluation for the moron who left my stuff in

the street.

As bad as these two services are, the post office is even worse. They never

notify me if I have a package. I have to be lucky enough to stumble over it.

Books are usually safe. No one in my building seems to be a

reader.

If anyone has a system which works, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for letting me vent...

Hi Cheri,

I will ask for a signature from now on. UPS used to be very reliable. I got a

delivery from them today and the guy came all the way upstairs to give it to me.

Maybe the turkey who left it in outside the wrong building (he didn't even get

the address right) was a trainee or something.

If it weren't for the alert and honest building super across the street, I might

have been out a lot of money.

In my experience with couriers and signatures - they sign it themselves and

say " client not home " and dump it and run!

Hi, Dianne.. You are between a rock and a hard place, for sure. Have you

thought about using an independent mail receiving service. I just looked

this one up.. don't even know if it is in your area?

http://www.pakmail.com/services_mailbox.aspx

You would still have to go get your deliveries but at least you would

know that you would get them, right?

Otherwise, you don't have a lot of options, do you? I think you have

pretty well covered them.. getting pckgs delivered to a relative or friend

and having to go get them.. or.. require a signed return receipt with all

deliveries.

Hopefully, you can figure something out. I couldn't do without my

supplements. I sure do appreciate being out in the country..lol. Lola
