An air-quality test at Walton Ferry Elementary School detected no

mold-related problems at the ville school, but there were

elevated levels of carbon dioxide in the afternoon.

" There are no apparent air-quality issues at Walton Ferry, " Steve

Nichols, assistant director for operations and maintenance said at

the school board's study session Tuesday.

The test, performed on March 11, was ordered after a report by

Siemens, a national energy conservation company, recommended the

building be thoroughly investigation for mold. The Siemens report

said one of its engineers became sick after investigating ductwork

above the ceiling tiles.

The test checked a variety of potential air contaminants, including

mold, dust, pollen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and radon.
