Hi Kristal,

To review your labs we need the reference ranges for the Free T tests. TSH is

universal and the norm for it is .3-3.0 (some experts say the high end should

not be over 2.5.) TSH is a very BAD test to use for treatment.

Thyroid hormone has been proven to reduce even eliminate nodules.

We all have different mileage so what works for me may not work for you and vise

versa. For me T3 is essential and I have never had any ill side effects. My body

craves it and I take 45 mcgs of SR compounded T3 daily.

Cytomel is fast releasing so it only stays in the body up to 12 hours. It may be

helpful to take it at least twice daily. If you have fatigued adrenals you may

react badly to any T meds, both t3 and t4. Usually, the side effects occur when

too much is taken at once. Like all T meds start low and slowly increase.

For some people T3 disrupts sleep so you may need to take the last Cytomel pill

around 3 or 4 pm although I take my SR-T3 and NDT just before bedtime and I

sleep like a baby.

Also, you may want to get an iron with ferritin blood panel, B-12 and vitamin d

tests to check your levels. Low iron, B-12 and vitamin d can prevent the thyroid

meds from getting into the cells. Iron deficiency can cause heart palps, too.

If your T3 goes too low you can experience severe anxiety and emotionally

unstability, brain fog, heart palps, breathing problems, joint and muscle

weakness and aching. Also, the ovaries need a fair concentration of T3 as well

as the liver and kidneys. T3 is vital for proper heart and brain function and a

whole lot more.

Also it is known that DNA in the brain and thyroid cells are damaged and demised

when fluoride is high and iodine is low in the body.

Best,

~Bj

I did not feel better until I had T3 added to T4. 1/2 of 5 mcg is a

very, very little dose, so I cannot see how you could get too much

anxiety from it. I think I started on 5 mcg for some days and then

added a second 5 mcg, etc. until I was at the dose recommended. I

did not feel a difference all of a sudden, but a gradual improvement

in things over some weeks. I think we can be so low that it takes

time to regain feeling better.

I was as high as 75 mcg before my T3 was getting too high, and I

then was feeling some hyperness. Now I am settled at about 30-35

mcg. I take it in 2 doses, morning and after lunch, then my Levoxyl

at night when my stomach is empty from supper. I do try to take the

t3 when I have not just eaten but it is not as tricky as Levoxyl.

I also take Vit. B's and Ashwaganda from low adrenals... You need

good adrenals for thyroid hormone to be used well. And an Iron test

showed my a little low so I supplement that as well (cannot be taken

at the same time as thyroid.) I read that Iron is what ushers

thyroid hormone into the cell, so if you are low on iron then the

hormone cannot affect the cell.

Got my latest labs at 6 weeks of taking 25mcg of

Levothyroxin. TSH 1.94,

T4

Free 1.4 and T3 Free 2.9. I had 178 level TPO antibodies

in October and

just

under 1cm nodule on right side of thyroid.

Doctor is adding 5mcg of liothyronine (generic Cytomel)

since my T3

number was

not as desireable instead of adding more T4 which I read

was a good

approach for

Hashimoto's to take a combo anyhow.

I am suppose to start with half a pill the first week to

see how I react

before

working up to full 5mcg dose. I am a little nervous about

taking T3

after

reading the side effects as I had a couple of episodes

last week of high

anxiety

and near panic attack feeling like I could not get enough

oxygen at

bedtime.

Doctor thought it was a adrenal rush due to my

overthinking at bedtime

and

having trouble falling asleep as a routine issue. I use a

MP3 and audio

book to

help get me to fall asleep faster. Is 5mcg a pretty low or

standard dose

of T3.

What has been other people's experience with this med.

My doctor seems to be okay with generics and my pharmacy

will not fill

name

brand unless script is written specifically for it. Anyone

have issues

with

these generics Levothyroxin and Liothyronine? Kristal

Thanks for the insight! I am having some additional tests done: Ferritin

Female Saliva Hormone Panel (E, P, T & 4 Cortisols

Reverse T3

I have some ashwaganda and thought about starting it.

I have also been supplmenting with B vitamins and fish oil, flax seed oil, and

borage oil to help with dry eyes and overall inflammation rate since I had a

high ANA titer for autoimmunes and I am still concerned it is more than just my

Hashimoto's that caused the high titer.

Great info! BJ

I am getting my Ferritin,Female Saliva Hormone Panel (E, P, T & 4 Cortisols, and

Reverse T3 tested. My vit D level is 70, had that tested last month. Don't

know my B12 level.

Thanks for the dosing inputs. Kristal
