Guest guest
We have discussed this before but what is real unfortunate is that even beyond this, what it really takes is for an animal getting hurt.... who <jeaninem660@...> wrote: for the last 5 years. gee, to bad that forst lawyer I had was so worthless back than, maybe my case getting done would have changed the outcome here. why does it take many children getting hurt to get someone to listen? this just makes me sick and mad. between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-
Guest guest
Do not be discouraged about the lack of press. The big news papers are often " in the tank " with the perpetrators or want to see some other coverage before they get " on board " ~~ this was my experience. The first mold hearing in 2001 in Boston, was only covered by the cable access channel. But it was " recorded " and on the record. In March, I called the Phoenix newspapers and was lucky enough to get to the owner, Steve Mindich who was a great guy on the phone. I explained all that happened to me and he decided to " open the door. " The Boston Phoenix was one of those " hippie " non-mainstream newspapers which was considered radical for its time. The 1970's. I remember it as a college kid in the Woodstock day. It was just what was needed at the time. The reporter went to the hearing, contacted my union officials, and broke the wall. In 2002, it had grown in its base and had several other markets. After my story about the schools, Mulvey talked to them about Boston City Hall, and they did a front page with Boston City Hall on the cover and a story about the schools as well. Themoldsource carried it for a long time. ( I don't know if it is there still.) At any rate, it was like a bomb exploded when the story broke; it was accessible online and the fact that it could be sent out over the internet was a great help. Especially if you were sick and energy- challenged as most of us are to some extent. What was an alternative paper back in the day, 30 years prior, free, and on a weekly basis, made the story take off, especially since the writer, Lombardi had just done a huge story on the pedophile scandal in the Archdiocese of Boston. We were just very lucky and were suddenly not just talking to " ourselves. " Her work was careful and recognized. Often, a community newspaper will be the first place to listen to you. And, like anything else, we all start at the bottom, where it is lonely. If you get to have a hearing, in your town, and I hope you do, maybe the small papers, which have news space to fill, will cover it. Have all your facts ready. Be thoroughly prepared even if it means you write yourself a " script. " I found myself, after an " exposure " unable to remember where I had parked my car, in a shopping mall. When you speak to the reporters, have all your notes in front of you. I wrote everything down, because of the brain fog I was having at the time. I did not want to look like a nut. The " nut " factor is huge and hard to overcome, but if you look prepared you can hit a home run, first time out! Stay with it and do not get discouraged. For each contact that does nothing for you, there will be one who does. For each " friend " who turns his/her back on you, there will be a new one. Start small. This movement started small and lonely. > > for the last 5 years. > gee, to bad that forst lawyer I had was so worthless back than, > maybe my case getting done would have changed the outcome here. > why does it take many children getting hurt to get someone to listen? > this just makes me sick and mad. >
