Guest guest
Hi all, Question about those with high school kids in Physical Ed. Guidelines from TCI No harsh contact No activities at predictable risk of whiplash injuries No excessive straining (to the point of being red in the face) is 14. Over the years has not done much PE due to being ill. So he is fairly stable now with the exceptions of his feet. (severs) The problem is the school is not comfortable with him being in PE at all. They want to get a waiver to be excused. But want to make sure in his senior year able to graduate. He will not be held back due to lack of credits. He needs some sort of exercise program. Running with correct shoes? If he didnt over do it? Stretching and conditioning. Some one suggested looking into orthopedic tennis'. (Coaches and guidance dept. concerns that he will get knocked down) So would you sign a release for him to go ahead and take PE with certain guide lines?(again coaches and schools concerns that he will be singled out). Skip PE for the next 3 years. Or let him skip this year and work on getting an exercise program to build his self up to be stronger. He missed out on a lot. He has no friends outside of school, (believe me I have pushed him on this) he is a kid that likes to be alone. I am caught between a rock and a hard place. He wants to participate in PE. Sorry for duplicates, multi groups, and it being so long. Would like opinions.
