Guest guest
For some time now I've been using Arnica Gel followed by 70% DMSO (once the alcohol in the Arnica gel evaporates off) on my scalenes and trapezius neck muscles which sometimes travels down causing aching in my arms. It rarely gets really bad anymore fortunately. This is a chronic thing from too many years of heavy barn work and a whiplash in an auto accident 7 years ago. I do a series of nightly stretches that really help and my chiro of many years keeps the kinks minimized when it flares beyond the limbering and lubing treatments. The Arnica Gel and DMSO do a nice job after only a few applications and a good night's sleep usually, but I was wondering if there was something even better to use with the DMSO. I can't go to a higher potency because I get about an hour of prickling and itching when first applied even at the 70% and that's uncomfortable. That happens with or without the Arnica Gel. TIA..... Guest guest
If I recall correctly, DMSO is usually most effective at 30-50% so don't worry about going higher. Nervines/muscle relaxers are what I use. Because it's what I have, I use (common names) Lobelia, valerian, st. 's Wort, KavaKava,Mullein Root and Cayenne. Sometimes I add essential oils I like or know to be effective.. From your description, you might want to specifically consider antispasmodic nervines. Do ;you use Magnesium Chloride topically? I use more of that on my neck than anything else. Least expensive source is Nigari-used to make tofu. Get written guarantees about radiation if you buy it. The MgCl from " ancient sea beds " won't have Fukishuma junk; who knows what kind of junk the ancients had. Stress Relief with Nervine Herbs http://www.squidoo.com/nervineherbs copied by slp Wed Aug 29 2012 Examples of gentle nervines include catnip, chamomile, damiana, lemon balm, linden, skullcap, wild oats, and wood betony. Sedative herbs calm or tranquilize by reducing functional activity; they can be used to reduce nervous tension, pain, neuromuscular spasms, and insomnia. Moderate and potent sedative herbs include California poppy, hops, kava kava, passion flower, Jamaican dogwood, and valerian. ........................................ > > For some time now I've been using Arnica Gel followed by 70% DMSO > (once the > alcohol in the Arnica gel evaporates off) on my scalenes and trapezius > neck > muscles which sometimes travels down causing aching in my arms.
