I talked to the kids I use to take care of tonight for the first time in about a month. It was wonderful to hear their voices and hear about all they have been doing. I miss them SO much right now, I was doing real well there for a while but talking to them tonight brought back everything. All the memories, it was great but so sad. When we moved last July I KNEW it would be hard to say good-bye to my little (okay big) guys but not THIS hard!!!!!!!! I think what makes this phone call so bad is that my BEST friends are in Ca right now. This Aug it will be 16 years that and I have known each other. Her little sister will be 16 this Aug. and I (and then later Cina her sister) have spent EVERY summer and every other Christmas together for the last 15 years. My mother would make the year HORRIBLE and she would try her hardest to make summers just as bad but I knew come June that no matter now hard she tried that the girls and I would MAKE summer a wonderful time (like it should be!). Saying good-bye every Aug. was never a sad time we knew we'd be seeing each other the next June we'd say our good-byes and that would be it. Well last year when I moved we said our good-byes just like every 'normal' summer just like the fallowing June we'd be seeing each other again. And I guess tonight I realized that I wont be seeing them this year or this Christmas. I'm going to miss both their BIG birthdays turning 18 and Cina turning 16, We've always had a ball for their birthdays! Well, I'm sorry for having the pity party here, it's just they are the only friends i've every really had through all my health stuff and all the junk with my mother our friendship has only gotten stronger I think tonight was just the first time I realized this summer would be our first summer apart! Guest guest
HomeSick Monday April 21 at 7.30pm: TVNZ - New Zealand* http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/488120/1681049 New local series. An Otahuhu family call in the HomeSick experts to diagnose the problems in their home which they believe are compromising the health of two year old - whose immune system is already compromised by a potentially fatal disease. About the show TV2's brand new DIY series, HomeSick, addresses a major issue affecting all of us: the health of homes in New Zealand. Every day of the year, thousands of ordinary New Zealanders are succumbing to a silent killer - and it's one on which many of us have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars - our homes. In each episode, leading environmentalist Dr Stokes (Head of the Carbon Group), GP Dr Chantal Gianni, builder Craig " Puka " Linn, and interior designer Hamish Dodd (My House, My Castle), investigate a home that the homeowners claim is making them sick. After hearing from the owners about how they believe their health and happiness have been affected by the property, they move in to conduct the practical and scientific investigations. Hamish Dodd says that working on Home Sick has been such a rewarding experience as you watch the transformation of sick Kiwi families struggling with health problems and deteriorating houses revert back to happy, healthy families again. " The Homesick team loves helping Kiwi families get their life back. It is devastating to watch families struggling with health problems, particularly their children because of their dream home. " Hamish adds that it is astounding the number of New Zealanders living in houses that have leak or have asbestos, rising damp, rusting roofs or toxic mould. " Then add one of the most extreme climates in the world - searing hot in summer and freezing, with little or no insulation or heating, in winter - and it is little surprise that Kiwis homes are making us sick. " " As a team we have been able to bring our expertise to each project and really make a difference. The families we have helped have been so appreciative and it's great to know that we are actually making a difference to people's lives, " says Hamish. Each week, with the families health problems diagnosed - including asthma, eczema, stress, nausea and vomiting - the building team moves in to perform an extreme eco renovation on the property that will help transform it to a safer living space for both the family and the environment. Click here to check out HomeSick Extra - The Family on TVNZ6, which follows each family to an environmental retreat, where they learn about how to protect themselves from environmental dangers and teaches them about living a healthy life.
