Guest guest
Milk of magnesium(hydroxide) comes in no flavor(MOM), couldnt you mix this with something? Pedia sure is a good masker! Consider chewable vitamin C to help loosen stools also! Jennie<>< Subject: other ideas? To: "Miralax" <miralax >Date: Thursday, December 4, 2008, 11:54 AM I have searched and searched for the chewable, or these http://www.pedia- lax.com/Chewable -Tablets- HCP.php and I cannot find them anywhere. Is there something else I can add to juice that won't change flavor?
Guest guest
You can order the MOM tablets on-line if you aren't able to find them in person. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_1_14?url=search-alias%3Daps & field-keywords=\ milk+of+magnesia+tablets & x=0 & y=0 & sprefix=milk+of+magnes http://www.google.com/products?q=philips+chewables & ie=utf-8 & oe=utf-8 & rls=org.moz\ illa:en-US:official & client=firefox-a & um=1 & sa=X & oi=product_result_group & resnum=4 & \ ct=title I was able to find them at my local Rite Aid, or maybe it was Walgreens, here in the Los Angeles area, but maybe they aren't stocked in stores similarly across the country. Alternatively, I've sometimes used a liquid product called " Mega Mag " - http://www.traceminerals.com/products/megamag.html The label states that 0.8 tsp (4 mL) contains 400mg magnesium. But adding the full 4 mL to one drink made it taste horrific. The bottle comes with a dropper & if I recall correctly, I figured out that about 66 drops (using the supplied dropper)equaled about 4mL (you can double check that if you buy MegaMag - just use the dropper & a measuring spoon). Though I couldn't give a full dose (my son needed 350-400mg of mag a day at that time) in one serving of drink, I found that I could sneak in about 3-6 drops in each 4-6 oz(usually dilute juice) and he wouldn't notice (so long as he did not *see* me put the drops in). Hard to get to a full 400mg this way, so we still also used some other form of mag in addition to Mega Mag. But, depending on how much magnesium your child needs daily and how much they drink, this might be a reasonable option. I think Bonnie had tried WaterOz for a while - I don't recall how much magnesium it had in it per serving. hth, > > I have searched and searched for the chewable, or these > http://www.pedia-lax.com/Chewable-Tablets-HCP.php and I cannot find them > anywhere. Guest guest
Thanks all. So MOM stands for Milk of Mag? Okay, is this okay to give daily? did have a huge diaper today, but still grainy. Like the Miralax. Three weeks off it. I wonder how long this can last? > > > > I have searched and searched for the chewable, or these > > http://www.pedia-lax.com/Chewable-Tablets-HCP.php and I cannot find them > > anywhere. Guest guest
yes - MOM = Milk of Magnesia I gave it to my son daily for months, maybe half a year. I then switched to other forms of magnesium - but he still gets 500mg magnesium a day and 500 mgs vitamin C. My greatest concern with the MOM was it's antacid properties and trying to make sure I gave it far enough away from a meal or snack that it would not affect his digestion. And, with a growing toddler, it's hard to find a time that he's not eating every couple hours or so. > > > > > > I have searched and searched for the chewable, or these > > > http://www.pedia-lax.com/Chewable-Tablets-HCP.php and I cannot > find them > > > anywhere. Guest guest
Did you find that the other forms were just as effective? What do you give? > > > > > > > > I have searched and searched for the chewable, or these > > > > http://www.pedia-lax.com/Chewable-Tablets-HCP.php and I cannot > > find them > > > > anywhere.
