Guest guest
I have a question about what type of neurosurgeon to see. I was diagnosed with SM when I was about 7 and ACM II a couple of years later. I am now 26 (well, I will be on Thursday). I was told by the last doctor that I saw, a pediatric NSG, that I should always see a pediatric doctor no matter how old I am. I know a lot of you didn't have symptoms until you were an adult, but have any of you who have known for some time about your problems been given the same advice? He told me that a pediatric doctor is much more familiar with birth defects than a "grown-up" doctor. I get a lot of funny looks in the doctor's office when they ask who the patient is, and some strange responses when I call in myself about problems. I'm willing to put up with this with a smile on my face if it means that I get the best care possible. Any thoughts?
