Guest guest
That is a good idea with the citrate. We only use as needed. The vitamin C works great! We use 1000 to 3000 mg's for bowel movement. Im curious why he would have you do this for 7-10 days? Is this to clean out? We have accomplished cleanout with just 2days. Im sure he knows what he is doing and it is just im curious why and may consider trying? C is pretty harmless and recently discovered it is stopping cancer. When I researched the ingredients of C It was nice to learn that it is also a fungal killer and I also believe cancer is fungus/yeast so this would make sense! Now I wouldnt use this dose daily, just for how many he said and then as needed. There are some thoughts that vitamin C if used in mega doses for long periods could cause stones, but the amount you are using wouldnt be considered mega dose, but still would not use daily at those amounts. Gastritis? Wouldnt this have bloating? We thought our son may have had gastritis, but with gut healing got less and less(the bloating anyways). I suspect it is a bacteria or viral issue etc. That is interesting about the licorice. Not sure if this is the same licorice or not but it also is a parasite killer, could be different kind. Anything that is used for laxative affects could become where more and more is needed even magnesium. We alternate most of what we use, aloe being the more regular. Hope all goes well! Jennie<>< Subject: burning belly updateTo: miralax Date: Monday, December 1, 2008, 12:05 PM Took my son to the naturopath today since his burning tummy was getting worse (3 nights of no sleep is very hard…). Seems he has gastritis due to chronic constipation. I would have NEVER thought he was constipated. He was going every day or at least every other, his tummy was flat and he was eating fine. I couldn’t feel anything in his gut, either. Doc checked it out, found some “hiding stool” way in the back – he had to press pretty hard to find it, but it was almost the whole length of his colon. Also never heard of gastritis, so will be searching that when I’m done here. Advice from doc: Dump the mag citrate. It’s only to be used for clean out once in awhile. It’s not intended to be every day. He explained it’s a laxative and will eventually shut down the colons own ability to contract. Didn’t know that. What to take instead: High doses of Vit C – 3000-5000mg/ day for 7-10 days. Add DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice). Anyone know anything about it – other than it tastes horrific? Needs to be chewed as saliva initiates the enzymes. Add slippery elm. Why? – Vit C to induce movements. DGL and Slippery Elm to calm stomach lining. Any further advice or comments would be welcome – the DGL and slippery elm are new ideas to me. Thanks! ~ Tracie
Guest guest
For the DGL -- I tried this when my son was young, but he didn't like the taste http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1 & pid=1556 & at=0 Now that he likes black licorice, it may be time to try it again. There's a liquid extract http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1 & pid=-6191047470690031285 I'm thinking that a few drops with natural root beer might mask the flavor? Here's a product with Gamma-Oryzanol, marshmallow and slippery elm that has good reviews http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1 & pid=4952 & at=0 Usually you'll find slippery elm in lozenges for sore throats. The amount you want for GI is more -- so the throat lozenges might not work for your child. I joined Iherbs rewards program -- if you use my referral code of ROT043 you get $5 off your order. If you order over $60 (easy to do!) it's free shipping. T his is where I order Vitamin D3 -- my Vit D level was low after years of taking supplements with 400% RDA of Vit D. After taking 2 per day for several month http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx? c=1 & pid=7763 & at=0 I finally got my Vit D level to budge. > > Took my son to the naturopath today since his burning tummy was getting > worse (3 nights of no sleep is very hard.). Guest guest
, Gastritis can be caused from something you ate that wasn't good, like bad bacteria in it. It can be caused from a virus as well. Food borne illness can be misconstrued for gastritis. It's one of those things that they go by what you are telling them and go by your symptoms to diagnose. Anyone can get it. I ended up at the ER with a pain in my abdomin about a year ago and they wanted to give me liquid novacain.............I declined. It went away a couple days later but the pain was bad. Gastritis is just another term they use like the word "virus" they use.......................they really don't know for sure. I did find out that the stomach itself is up under where your heart is, kind of where you bread basket is, and anything else is you small intestines etc. so when someone says they're tummy hurts and it's lower than that, it's really not the stomach itself. There is a lot of stomach flu's going around right now.............. Guest guest
I really appreciate this information, but I also really trust our naturopath. He was clear that he couldn’t be certain it was gastritis (unless he did some invasive testing or let the remedies do their stuff). We chose a remedy and the DGL. He said if it is gastritis, the DGL and remedy will make him feel better immediately. It did (once we got the DGL in him…). The “cure” works for a while, then the pain comes back. It’s a cycle til the DGL and remedy work their way through (it takes a few days). He is feeling a little better, but ended up coming home from school today. It’s better than the writhing pain he was in since Wednesday. is describing the pain in exactly where you say the bread basket is, but it’s radiating now throughout his abdomen. The unbearable pain also comes at 4:30 and lasts through the night – another naturopathic indicator of something digestive. It doesn’t matter what he eats or when. Our naturopathic guy is great – I love him to death and fear the day he retires. Guest guest
did he check the gallbladder for stones? It almost sounds like what I exerienced when I had gallstones? My doc says these miralax children would probably be prone to stones considering PEG creates calcium oxalate crystals???? Guest guest
Good point Jeanie -- I have always talked about the caOx being kidney stones - and really small ones = cloudy urine -- but it can also deposit as gallstones. > > From: Happel's <ctajcharter (DOT) net> > Subject: burning belly update > To: miralax@yahoogroups .com > Date: Monday, December 1, 2008, 2:05 PM > > > > > Took my son to the naturopath today since his burning tummy was getting worse (3 nights of no sleep is very hard…).
