Guest guest
Took my son to the naturopath today since his burning tummy was getting worse (3 nights of no sleep is very hard…). Seems he has gastritis due to chronic constipation. I would have NEVER thought he was constipated. He was going every day or at least every other, his tummy was flat and he was eating fine. I couldn’t feel anything in his gut, either. Doc checked it out, found some “hiding stool” way in the back – he had to press pretty hard to find it, but it was almost the whole length of his colon. Also never heard of gastritis, so will be searching that when I’m done here. Advice from doc: Dump the mag citrate. It’s only to be used for clean out once in awhile. It’s not intended to be every day. He explained it’s a laxative and will eventually shut down the colons own ability to contract. Didn’t know that. What to take instead: High doses of Vit C – 3000-5000mg/day for 7-10 days. Add DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice). Anyone know anything about it – other than it tastes horrific? Needs to be chewed as saliva initiates the enzymes. Add slippery elm. Why? – Vit C to induce movements. DGL and Slippery Elm to calm stomach lining. Any further advice or comments would be welcome – the DGL and slippery elm are new ideas to me. Thanks! ~ Tracie
