Guest guest
Well, I do know that Miralax works, but the flax seed meal has not been as effective. I don't want to go back on Mirlax, but , 5, is just sitting trying to poop. She has problems with drinking, so its hard to get prune juice in, and she's mainly on puree and the texture so far, has not been noticed of the flax seed meal, but she's not going. She's refusing to eat other foods now, I think cause she's backed up. And its just miserable. Maybe I will try flax seed oil. Sorry, needed to vent. Guest guest
I am sorry this is so hard. My son won't even sit or try to go poop (he holds) so I know how frustrating these issues can be. Have you tried Kidlax? It is a great product. I open the capsul and give in a tablespoon of applesauce and he doesn't taste a thing. I give 3x/day. Also, you could try probiotics if you haven't already. Guest guest
Miralax made my dd become nausous, NEVER once did she ever display this before Miralax, you could see the look on her face that was gut wrenching. This never did go away, although it did get better over time, and at the slightest smell now..........it really bothers her. I think this sensitized her system and she can pick out a smell, minutes before anyone, even 8 years later................this is a completely normal child. One of the biggest problems with Miralax that complicates the truth about Miralax is that so many children that already have problems i.e.Autism, non-verbal, etc. are most of the ones that it's being prescibed to because they are the ones that usually have problems with their bowels, and PEG's symptoms get masked into the their underlying condition therefore the doctors think it must be their condition causing this behavior. Every doc around the world needs a copy of the FDA adverse events, because they are all clearly in the dark about what they are prescribing........................ Guest guest
Im not to sure on using flaxseed for everyone until you know if it is a motility issue. Flax seed is a bulker. The oil probably wouldnt do this, bulk! Maybe consider olive oil! If she is not eating you are most likely write in that she is backed up. Being backed gives a full sensation. I would consider more of something that is going to liquify the stool(how long has she been without, if more than about 3days), extra water, vitamin C, aloe vera juice, etc. this can be added to her pureeds.
