I gotthe following email from another Health Group that I belong to. It is

called the " Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis Foundation (rrpf) " group.

Papillomas are growths in the throat and on the vocal cords, that are " presumed "

to be viral in origin. I do not have the illness, myself. I monitor the group

for my niece, who has the illness, and whose home I can no longer enter, as I

get " mold " reaction in her home. I never made the connection between the two

illnesses before I saw the following post. If there is anyone with any info on

the connection, could you please post it here, on our board, so I can learn if

there is a connection. I will then, immediately, re-post it on the rrpf group,

so they can benefit from our group members knowledge. Thank You.

Joe

Subject: [rrpf] does mold cause added risk?

I was asked this question from a parent of an RRP child, and do not

have a good answer. Any input would be appreciated.

Bill W.

My daughter was diagnosed with RRP in October 2005. She has had 9

surgeries now. We are currently renting a home in the Dallas, TX area

and discovered mold in the air vents October 2007. Our landlord has

not corrected the underlying problem and I'm not sure if he plans too.

We have 4 months left on our lease here, but I am afraid I am only

jeopardizing her health even more by staying. We have confirmed

through lab testing that the mold is Cladosporium and Penicillium and

that they are active and growing. Can you please tell me what health

risk she might be facing if she continues to be exposed. Any help

would be greatly appreciated.
