I had what I thought was a stroke after being on Miralax several months. I couldn't read, concentrate and my speech was slurred. This came on all of a sudden. I just happened to be on the phone with gastro from Hopkins when this happened. She told me to hang up and call 911 as she couldn't understand me. I did and was taken to the ER. They conducted all the normal tests for stroke and concluded that it was not a stroke. They thought it was a complex migraine. I did notice in the beginning when taking Miralax I was having occular migraines. I stopped the Miralax and the "migraines" stopped. I did my own little test weeks later and tried a small dose of Miralax in the morning and soon after had one of those "occular migraines". Miralax is poison....at least to me. I used Magnesium Citrate after this incident and was talking out of my head. My daughter-in-law read the ingredients and it contains Polyethelyne Glycol which is Miralax. I was hospitalized once again out of my head. Very scary. Oh, I took that Go Lightly prep for colonoscopy before all of this and was so sick I thought I would die. Doc thought I had toxic shock and never figured it out. Looking back I see, it was the prep which is again polyethelyne glycol. I have also taken Nexium long term and would love to get off this med too. I'm sure it's causing me major problems but every time I try to stop I feel so sick. Anyone with suggestions please let me know.
