Guest guest
Kim, One of the problems with Miralax is, it seizes the bowel up, then they couldn't go if they wanted to...........then they absorb more than anticipated! Very dangerous! You can go off it anytime, you don't need to wean, per say, MOM works along with Kirkmans chewable probiotic, this was the only thing that works for us.............(without using laxatives) There are many suggestions in the files section, the most important thing to do is get him off! Jeanie http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/miralax/files/--- Subject: new to group - how to stop taking MiralaxTo: miralax Date: Sunday, December 28, 2008, 10:53 PM Hi all - THX for having this group! My 9 year old son has been taking Miralax for one year since being blocked last January. Since then he still got backed up 3 more times and had 3 more Miralax clean outs. After a normal MRI he had an endoscopy w rectal biopsies. No results yet but the doctor wants him on Miralax for at least another year. I hate Miralax because it makes him bloated and flatulent. And if it were really working he wouldn't have backed up again so often. Does anyone have information on how to stop the Miralax faster than 1/2 teaspoon every 6 weeks? Many thanks ~ Kim in Va
