lannwalkLenexa, KSFLAGI am offended by comments by many who obviously have never had a child inflicted with encopresis; a true medical condition. I am a mother with a masters degree who is educated about properly feeding my child who has a twin w/out this condition so it's not from what she eats! I also tried natural alternatives before seeing a pedatric GI who prescribed mirilax. I would urge others who have never encountered this condition to stop harmful comments. This is a difficult medical condition to treat. My daughter's colon became stretched 4-5x the

normal size and she suffered nerve damage because of this condition. If you've had a child w/ the occasional consitpation..that is not encopresis. Many loving parents and wonderful children face uneducated comments like these far too often! Mirilax is pushed on parents who are told it has no side effects. The list of side effects that many have experienced is long. My own daugther experienced rages while on this medication which ceased after she was pulled off of it. It doesn't take a rocket science to find the correlation. They weren't the typical temper tantrums. It was a very distinct RAGE that had her completely out of control, gritting her teeth, mean eyes and face, scratching, hitting etc. This was a normal happy easy going child experiencing this because of this med. I am hopeful pediatricians and GI specialists will be made by the FDA to stop prescribing this to children. Please have compassion and don't judge w/out proper
