Guest guest
To everyone in the group, a huge, huge thank you from Ron and myself for keeping us in your thoughts, and all the prayers that were sent up for Ron as he underwent his lateral internal sphincterotomy. He returned home this afternoon around 2:30ish and the procedure went very well. Unfortunately, he is in more pain now then before the surgery and the Dr. says he will continue to be in pain for approx. a week. But at least we are on the road to recovery. Yeah!! When I left his home to return to mine, he was resting a little easier as the double dose of Vicodin was taking its effect. He said to thank you all! I would also like to say thank you for your warm welcoming responses as I bared all today, I am so glad that its finally out in the open and now that I am officially apart of your family you can watch my grow........I have been waiting for what seems to be an eternity to actually feel as if I could help Ron out with Bettys care and it happened this week. On Tuesday, I got to stay with Betty for just a couple of hours while Ron was out and his sister could not cover, I was so happy. But when it was over, I feared it would be a long time before I got that opportunity again. The very next morning Rons sister forgot he needed coverage and I raced over once again, staying with Betty for another couple of hours. Then I expressed my feelings to Ron, if I could only win her trust and be able to dress and bathe Betty, we might really stand a chance at being a complete family and maybe eventually having Betty and Ron move in with me. He agreed. Low and behold, two days later, which was today, I got the opportunity to stay with her most of the day.....knowing she is used to bathing once daily, I simply asked her, " would you like me to help you with your bath today Betty " and she comfortably responded, " that would be fine " . OMG I thought there was less than a 1% chance it would happen today. I had Ron walk me thru how to dress and undress an adult and the best way to get her in and out of the tub. It wasn't the most thorough bath and somehow I was as wet as Betty, water all over the floor, she even commented that I was getting a shower too, I told her it would be our secret that we showered together today and she laughed. I was very nervous. How wonderful it feels to actually help someone. I work third shift at a prison, me, my partner and 240 inmates, its boring, and extremely unfulfilling. What a negative environment. Been doing it for almost 11 years. What a blessing to make something positive happen in my day. Sorry, I'm rambling, thank you to all, I have learned so much from all of you. Can't wait to meet you in August! Holly aka
