Wheeling -- A seventh grade Warwood Middle School student is the

only child on record to be diagnosed with a rare fungal infection

that in the end, claimed her right eye.

But Kamika wouldn't let it keep her down.

has been battling this rare infection for almost a year. It

affected her weight, her ability to walk, and her appearance. It

also cost her thousands of dollars for treatment.

" One night I was at my sisters baby shower and my ear was hurting

and the next day I went to school and the next day I got my eye

taken out. " Kamika said.

That's when students from Wheeling Park High School decided to help

out by selling t-shirts to help pay for the medical bills.

Kamika said she is doing much better. She added that she's looking

forward to summer time and is even waiting for doctors to give her

the ok to hit the swimming pool.
