Guest guest
This is just a short story on the Asbestos and mold in NASA building. Link: NASA Asbestos Did anyone hear the story on Fox New today?! Story was about a NASA building(didn't hear where) that has 40 out of about 100 people with cancer. I only heard a part of the story about the union talking about mold and asbestos being the problem Of course a spokesperson was saying that these cancers are normal and testing does not believe them to be related to the building. I can't find the story on Fox News but I'm still looking. If anyone finds it please let me know. Sue **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
Union questions cancer rates at NASA Glenn By Associated Press POSTED: 01:30 p.m. EDT, Apr 11, 2008 CLEVELAND: A union at NASA Glenn Research Center is asking members of Congress to investigate what it believes is a high incidence of cancer at one of its buildings. Reports from the Ohio Department of Health and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health say the cancer rates are within the normal range. NASA's Glenn director Woodrow Whitlow planned to hold a news conference this afternoon to discuss the matter. Cancer has been diagnosed during the past three or four years in about 40 of the 100 workers on the Developmental Engineering Building's third floor, said Dennis Pehotsky, a spokesman for the Engineers and Scientists Association. The union, which represents more than 1,500 scientists, clerks and other workers, has raised concerns about possible mold and asbestos from a ceiling hole, a dirty filter and other problems at the complex. Hartline, Glenn's safety director, promised to have the filter cleaned more often, but said tests show safe conditions. He also said Glenn wanted to avoid major repairs because of plans to raze the building and annex in 2010. State and federal experts studied data from confidential questionnaires completed by workers at the 1964-built facility and an annex constructed in 1965. But Pehotsky said some stricken workers skipped the questionnaire because of fears of being identified. The staff of U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who represents the district where Glenn is located, is investigating, spokesman Joe Benny said today. Guest guest
My employer said the very same exact statement! We'll change the air filters more often! to Quote Bill Murry in Ghostbusters, " Thanks Ray, that oughta' do it! As extreme heavy constuction continued, it felt like 4 point earthquakes every morning, while the great earth moving monster machinery continued to pound the ground, I soon found myself Diagnosed with " Fibromyalgia " (shhh... it's the candy-coated name given for Environmental TOXIC Illness) and within weeks of that diagnosis, I was unable to perform even the most simple functions that my job required, and THEN, told by the Dr to go excersise. I told him, " If I could EXCERSISE, I'd be WORKING! I had filed a W/C claim and since my Employer carries their own W/C insurance, after a few months, I was told I was A-OK to go back to work! HA imagine that! I'd have to wear my thongs tho, since my foot is swollen 5 times normal size. Oh, and I would need a wheelchair and also assistance going to the restroom. Does anyone know if " Fibromyalgia " burns the hair from your legs and causes red burns elsewhere on the body to where the skin peels off like a bad sunburn and leaves open sores? hmmm... and they want me to live well and be well? on what was a SUPERFUND site! With 70 years of known Toxins soaked into the ground. So now I'm forced to sponge off of the TAXPAYERS. Thanks Guys! --- In , " jill1313 " <jenbooks13@...> wrote: > > > > Union questions cancer rates at NASA Glenn > > By Associated Press > > POSTED: 01:30 p.m. EDT, Apr 11, 2008 > > CLEVELAND: A union at NASA Glenn Research Center is asking members of > Congress to investigate what it believes is a high incidence of cancer > at one of its buildings. > > Reports from the Ohio Department of Health and the National Institute > for Occupational Safety and Health say the cancer rates are within the > normal range. >
