Guest guest
The only thing she takes is sinemet one around 10pm. Nothing new been on that for ages. We only give her 1 a day, because she can't take anymore then that, and it has always seem to help her sleep better since she was taken off all of it. It seems like once I get her up to pee, it just aggravates her and upsets her. I wear depends on her, but she wakes up asking to go. But once I take her, she gets angry, and upset once I get her there, crying yelling and not wanting me to change her if she did go in her depends. She asks to go, and then by doing so it just makes her agitated. I don't know. She is sleeping right now in her recliner. I listen to her chest don't hear anything out of the norm, but I am not a dr, but I do count her breaths, and it's only 18 or so every minute. I know more then that can mean they are having trouble breathing. I ask her where she hurts, but she says no then yes I hurt there so I can't go by that. I said does your chest hurt yes, and then I ask her again no not right now. She isn't wheezing or anything, just a cough maybe 3 times a day and maybe 2 times at night nothing constant, and it's dry. I am trying to eliminiate things it could be. She was checked for UTI last week, and I keep those UTI sticks on hand to check it myself, and they have been ok also. She gets UTI alot, so I like to keep up on that. > > > > The last 2 nights my aunt has got up to use the bathroom around 2 & > 4, > > and when I put her back to bed she starts to talk talk talk, cry, > > laugh, just talking about nothing really. Guest guest
Beth: My husband is on seroquel now. 1/2 pill at 3 pm and 1 whole at bedtime but only 25 mg tablet. It has helped his Hallucinations considerably but we still have trouble at night with bathroom calls. He also wears depends but wakes up and has to go--he will lay there a bang his hand on the bed and be very restless but if I try to get him up to use the urinal or toilet he absolutely will not and it ends up in a battle. So if he is wet when he wakes up, I tear the wet depends off and take off his wet pads. I cover him with a velcro pad, cover him up and hope he goes back to sleep. I take my blanket and go out on the couch so I don't have to listen to his banging which goes on until he finally urinates. Sometimes he will get up but he will not sit on the toilet or let me pull his underwear down to go. Every few days things change and the approach I use has to change too. Good luck. One gal told me she puts three layers of sheets and pads on the bed and just peels them off as necessary during the night. That takes less time so you are not up remaking beds all night. I thought that was a good idea. Men of course, are a challenge as they are more like a fountain. Ain't we got fun? Good luck!!! Leona God whispers in your soul and speaks to your mind. Sometimes when you don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at you. It's your choice: Listen to the whisper, or wait for the brick. Guest guest
hi beth, i am sitting here thinking of writing a few mintues ago to go low and go slow like a turtle. first i bet your moms behind is very sore, you know how diarrehea can burn and they are so senstiive to alot of things. also, there is a product called fruiteze that helps keep constipation form hoappening, i persnally have always had constipation issues and i take high dosages of narcotics for pain nad i know i hate playing the constipation/diarrehea circle. so what i think would do, if your mom allows you is to see if she has 'diaper rash' from the diarrehea, you may have to spread her butt cheeks to see around the 'hole' she may need some diaper rash ointment, also maybe the change to the plus ensure was too fast, maybe you should mix the two and gradually work up to the plus instead. aspiration pneumonia, well thats is when they misswallow. what occupational therapy did when we noticed dad was having swallowing issues like he wasnt swallowing all his food, and then would take a deep breath in and start vomitting because he inhaled food into his lungs. or he would gag for a while, but what the occupational therapist had dad do, was every third bite, they would make daddy clear his throat loudly nd swallow also after he drank something also as the swallowing trouble starts you will notice it esp when drinking becuase they will choke easily, then you wll have to add some thickener to the liquids, but it will be obvious when you need to worry about it. just take things as they come and enjoy the good days/hours/minutes as they happen, and try hard to let the bad times roll off your shoulders, we are here for you and everyone else, my daddy died in 2005 after severe deciline from post hip surgery. i have been part of this group since may 2004 whendaddy was diagnosed and for personal health reasons i took a hiatus since this past oct and just came back, this group will become family to you as well, beucase we understand, and maybe cant solve since lbd is such a new disease, but we can understand and listen and cry and laugh with you hugs. sharon Beth wrote: Hi Sharon my aunt has constant RLS pain, it's worse when the weather changes into rain. We have had snow the last couple days, but she has been wide awake after I take her to the bathroom, crying, laughing, talking all through the night. I used an enema on her Sunday, and gave her a laxative, and then she had the runs for a day or so. I know it wore her out. She was checked for a UTI last week, and it was ok. We have taken her to the ER in the past to check for pneumonia, and they couldn't get a clear xray cause she is so humped over. I have a stethescope that I listen, but I haven't heard anything odd, more then usual rumblings. It says to tap around the stethescope, and if you here a hollow sound lungs are clear, so far it has been that way. My uncle has checked it also hasn't heard anything. She isn't wheezing, she has a slight cough now and again, but not constant. I have been asking her if she is hurting, and she says no, but I think I got her worked up now she says she needs to go to the hospital. I said why she said my stomach, I pressed on it slightly, but she didn't yell or try to hit me. She just said leave me alone, I want to lay down. I think maybe it could be from all the exertion from her getting up and down going to the bathroom so much Sunday & Monday it takes a toll on her she was worn out. She ate her breakfast late more like brunch, and she just had some chicken & dumplings not all but some. She has drank really well today, so I would think if she was really sick at her stomach she would not eat, when most of the time she doesn't when she isn't hungry. She isn't crying, she is laying down, but she has been chatty alot. Through the night the last 2 she has been non-stop. I know she has to pee, but when she gets up she gets agitated, and angry cause she has to go, she gets combative. She lays back down, but then just cries, and talks non-stop all night. I ask her if things hurt, and when she says her legs I know that to be true and right on cause she always has leg pain. I think with me asking her so much are you hurting here or there, it makes her start saying yes I hurt all over. Since I changed from regular ensure to ensure plus I wonder if that is giving her added energy so she can't relax. Anyone had that happen? How can I tell if she has aspiration pneumonia? I check her breathing it's about 18 or 19 breaths every minute. She isn't gasping or wheezing. She isn't flushed or really warm. Sometimes at night she will say I can't breath, but her head gets down in here pillow, and I raise it and she is fine. Thank you for your reply, I just hate not knowing what to do to help her. I am hoping it's just from all the bathroom trips from 2 days ago that has her worked up or the plus ensure. > > > > > > > > The last 2 nights my aunt has got up to use the bathroom around 2 & > > > 4, > > > > and when I put her back to bed she starts to talk talk talk, cry, > > > > laugh, just talking about nothing really.
